  1. 4 in the top 100 for the Yanks. 2 guys between 30 and 50.
  2. Gotta keep coming after them with heat. The A's are the third worst team in baseball vs fastballs over 96mph
  3. He's an interesting guy for sure. He brings a lot to the table. I also wonder if his defensive metrics are hurt by playing LF in Fenway. He reminds me of a young Markakis sans the defensive reputation.
  4. Ian Book has been a breath of fresh air. Notre Dame has been limited by their QB play the last few seasons, ever since Golson went in the crapper. We finally have an actual throw first, accurate QB who is able to run. Wimbush who?
  5. It isn't cheating. It is definitely gamesmanship. Cheating is violating a specific rule. There is no rule that you can't start a game with a reliever. The Patriots actually cheated. They deflated footballs and taped practices. Those things are not allowed in the NFL.
  6. Not sure how anyone can be pessimistic on Beni. The kid rakes. He just put up a 4.3WAR while being negative on the defensive side. I think people saw him coming up and thought he'd be a big time power hitter, but his calling card was his hitting skill, not his raw power. He might be a 20-25HR guy forever, but if he reaches base at a .360 clip, hits .290 and adds in 20 or so stolen bases, he will be a 4-5 win player every single year. He also just turned 24, which is the standard age that most players debut.
  7. We can agree on the Boone point. He's been tight lipped. I am wondering if he won't report a SP and will just wing it. To be honest with you, I'd report Robertson as the starter. This whole "beginner" thing has kept teams from stacking their lineups with lefties or righties since they don't actually know who will be pitching the bulk of the game
  8. You forgot CC at 10-6 4.23ERA
  9. Still TBD vs TBD. I have to assume the Yankees will use Happ as he hasn't lost as a Yankee and he has been the most consistent. The best pitcher on the team rebounded a bit in September, but with memories of his debachle last year in the WC game and his swoon then rebounding to above average doesn't instill a lot of confidence. Also, Sevy has a 6.23ERA with 14 baserunners in 8.2IP this year in 2 starts vs the A's. Happ has been lights out for the Yankees. He's 6-0 with a sub 3 ERA in NY and tossed a 1ER 6IP game vs Oakland earlier in the year. The only concern I have here is the right handedness of their lineup and how powerful they can be. Tanaka would have been an easy choice. He was on fire coming into the last two starts, then all he did was suck ass and allow 2 baserunners per inning in his last 2 starts. He's got the playoff resume. He has the stuff and he was hot. He hasn't faced the A's this year. He is also a right hander, which could be of benefit against all their righty power. For the A's, I truly think they're gonna BP game this one. Their strength is the pen and their rotation is like a game of survivor where nobody survived
  10. No guarantee it is the Yanks. Wednesday will be wild
  11. Not sure about all of that post, but the reason for my thread here is are we going to strap ourselves so heavily this offseason that we will run into a problem bringing back our core players? A ten year deal for anyone will definitely do that unless it’s clearly geared for an opt out
  12. Boone hasn’t tipped his hand. The easy assumption would be Happ since he’s been pretty dominant of late and his only real blemish was the GS he gave up to Pearce in the 6th of a previously scoreless performance. CC finished on a dominant, albeit ejection shortened, note but was pretty hittable before that. Sevy has two pretty dominant performances and a mediocre Rays start to close out the year. Tanaka was the easy choice before throwing up two straight stinkers where his command was way off. My guess is Tanaka as the A’s are mostly RH and with Tanaka’s solid PO track record, although the A’s are better vs RH pitchers by OPS.
  13. Depends on the team. Some teams are so built to their stadium that HFA is very important. Really interesting looking at the win percentages The sox and Yanks have the biggest HFA with a 7% increase in win percentage between home and away. The Astros have ridiculous reverse splits. The Stros have a 14% higher win percentage on the road than at home. The Stros have won 71% of their road games. That's the best split in the majors home or away, even better than the sox 70% win percentage at home. Interesting other splits... The Yanks have the best win % vs >.500 teams at .585. The Dodgers are second with the sox third.
  14. There is no goddamn way Price opts out. No way in hell. He isn't getting 4yrs and $124 mil from anyone.
  15. NY beats Oakland NY 3-2 over BOS HOU 3-1 over CLE HOU 4-3 over NYY HOU 4-2 over CHC I think the Yanks are a year away
  16. You do know the Yankees now lead the season series, right?
  17. I’ll remember this for next week. You may be right, but I hope you like crow
  18. With Sale on the fritz and the fact that we own Price and ERod, I think we’re geared up to be a spoiler for the Sox this season. We murder lefties and the Sox top 3 are all left handed
  19. Well, the AL is set Oak at NYY Oak/NYY v BOS Cle vs HOU One interesting tidbit. If NYY and CLE advance to the ALCS, the Guardians will have home field despite being around 10 games worse in the standings while playing in a vastly inferior division. Ridiculous
  20. So we clinched home field. We get two games of rest before the big day Wednesday. Should be fun. Good to see the offense really start to open up at the right time.
  21. They did go to the seventh game of a World Series, so there’s that
  22. Exactly, hypocrisy exists everywhere. CC shouldn't have yelled at the dugout. The message was sent with the pitch. Let it go from there. I agree with the assessment that he shouldn't have yelled at the other squad. Other than that, I entirely think his hitting Sucre was appropriate
  23. I think you're right. Almost to the point of watching Sale's warmup and being willing to scratch him immediately before the game
