  1. You can’t make judgements when 60% of your games, to this point, have been vs the A’s and Angels. You also can’t make judgements in April. The sox will be cut down to size in May or June, when the good teams will start to roll
  2. The A's lineup wouldn't make for a good AAA lineup
  3. Yanks, to this point, have shown a change from the last few years. Clutch hitting, contact and resilient starting pitching outside of Cole. Cortes had a bad inning, bounced back and lets NY come back. Rodon couldn’t locate, still held them down. Stroman was really good all the way through. Schmidt was dominant through 5 and Boone got a little greedy. Cabrera getting a chance has been a spark. Soto has been otherworldly. I love his approach. If he can keep driving in runs and get on base, he will score a whole lot when Judge gets back into the swing of things after his ST absence.
  4. 4-0 in Houston. Pretty sweet. Soto is unreal
  5. 3-0 start ain’t bad. Here we go
  6. It’s absolutely baffling that the Sox didn’t make a stronger play for JMont. 1 yr deal, $25 mil. That’s the going rate per annum of a 3 right now but usually over a 6 year term.
  7. Not surprising. He won’t be on the IL long. The issue here is our backup plan is also on the IL in Peraza. Probably gotta carry Cabrera and have him play 3b until DJ returns
  8. Stanton is going to get a lot of rest this year. Grisham is gonna get a lot of looks in the OF which should allow Stanton to start vs every lefty and rest when needed. Verdugo is a massive upgrade over the 2023 detritus in the OF. Soto is one of the best players in baseball. Judge now has protection. Volpe is year 2 is huge. Wells behind the plate means a lot more offense from a position that had none last year. This team is gonna hit and will likely be top 5 in baseball in runs scored.
  9. The offense is gonna be good. The pitching behind Cole looks healthy coming into the year which is good. Without Cole, this team should beat up on bad teams with the new balanced schedule. Without Cole, I think we can get into the POs. Without Cole, we get bounced early in the POs, which is a failure in the Bronx
  10. O’s 98-64 Yanks 92-70 Rays 90-72 Jays 88-74 Sox 70-92
  11. Non surgical rehab always makes me nervous as wasted time now means wasted time in 25. That being said, the inflammation is coming from microtears somewhere. Hopefully reactive bone/slight ligament strain. That being said, we cannot go into 2024 (a true all in year) with this rotation minus Cole. The season starts in 2 weeks. Cole may be “out” for 12 weeks and by the time he ramps up, it’s the ASB. It’s time to pay Montgomery
  12. Yanks need to bring in JMont again
  13. Well f***, there goes the season
  14. I’m surprised…. Not really. He fell off a cliff last year. Sometimes these structural issues manifest in poor production before they manifest with pain. He’ll have surgery most likely and be out into mid 25.
  15. Dermatology is 4 and most do a fellowship that can add a year or two.
  16. I am still figuring out the pen for this team. I like the Trivino signing, but he realistically won't be an option until close to the ASB. Effross is out until mid season. I love the Ferguson trade. Holmes, Loaisiga, and Kahnle make for a nice bridge but the latter two seem to be regulars on the IL. Hamilton was awesome last year, but he missed a large chunk of the year as well. Marinaccio will be looking for a rebound and Beeter could be the electricity the team needs at first sign of distress, but what was a strength is now looking like a potential minus. Letting Wandy go for such cheap money looks like a bad choice at this time
  17. The offseason is actually falling into the sox lap right now. Montgomery would be an easy add and he would probably take less money to go there (his wife is a physician in her residency in Boston).
  18. Effross out to Midseason with back surgery. Yanks sign Trivino again
  19. This is an embarrassment of an offseason for the Sox. Usually, when the media starts crushing them, they make a stupid signing. My bet is Snell to the Sox at some $200 mil plus guarantee
  20. Yanks got Caleb Ferguson today. I like this move a lot. Needed a lefty out there who can strike batters out
  21. Yanks came into the offseason with a glaring need in the rotation and offense. They shored up the offense. They added Stroman. In getting Soto, they weakened the pen by dealing their depth and Michael King, who was a lights out reliever. They saw Wandy Peralta, their defacto closer from last year, walk for a reasonable sum. They were linked to every pen arm and have landed none. For a team with multiple star players on their walk year, this team feels unfinished with a weakened pen. It’s like building a beautiful penthouse by stealing from the support beams. The cheapest part of the team was left thin. We have the kids to fill in, but they’ll take their lumps in the meantime, something we don’t have the luxury of in a division that’s a total buzzsaw.
  22. I don’t like this news. I really don’t like this news
  23. Boras waited too long this time. You’ve removed the Dodgers and Yankees from the mix. The Phillies resigned Nola, so they’re done. The Red Sox don’t seem to be contending. The Cubs and White Sox are in a building phase. The Padres are cutting payroll. Houston is set in their rotation. That doesn’t leave many deep pocketed teams out there.
  24. I also think Judge has shed he "easily injured" tag associated with Stanton. He and Stanton were regulars on the IL for soft tissue injured 2020 and before. 21 and 22 he was VERY healthy and VERY good. Last year he ran into a fence, which falls into the s*** happens category. Stanton will get hurt if you look at him the wrong way. Last year, he just never looked healthy. He is best served as the RH platoon partner for Verdugo and get some extra miles for him. He shouldnt be a FT player. Same can be said of Lemahieu. The guy finished 2023 well, but he is someone they should be subbing in and out with Peraza. If we see him play every day, he will break down or fade
