    he actually pitched well in his last game fred. Cut him some slack. On another note, I was listening to WEEi today and they said that tom candiotti fixed something with Wake's delivery and he is pitching better. Dont know how true it is and if Helton smacks a couple out, it is likely hogwash, but we'll see.

    only in spirit. I have maintained and I still maintain that he has the secondary stuff to be an effective major league pitcher. He just doesnt have the control to be one and right now, he still cannot seem to find it. Keep him there until he does. If he doesnt, then this blunder will rank up there with the Pavano and Wright signings as the dumbest moves of the Cashman era.

    No. Hughes has all of Kazmir's stuff with control. Give him time. He was throwing a frieking no hitter in his second start for god sakes. And this wasnt a Bud Smith all contact no-no. He had these guys baffled the entire game. And no I dont think Hughes is an ace, RIGHT NOW. But he very well could be a middle of the rotation type pitcher and could be an ace in the very near future. People dont seem to like him because the hardest he'll hit on a night is 96 or 97. I just dont get it. Maybe he looks too young to be good?

    they always played hard. Piniella is a good manager, but you have to give him the players that will respond. He isnt the kind of manager who can handle a ton of ego driven superstars. But he gets frustrated with the kids. He'd be great on a mid level team and the cubs are that kind of team. Dont crucify him on this yr. He will turn the cubs around.
