  1. After todays game, the Yankees will play 1 WS contender between now and the ASB (Philly for 3), 2 if you count the LAD. I have a feeling they will be fine. Their only trist through the AL Central thus far has been 2 rounds with Minny, 1 round with the CWS and 1 round with DET. We havent seen Cleveland or KC yet. And in the ALW, we havent seen Seattle yet. And in the ALE, we havent seen Toronto yet. Have a feeling those games are going to be the difference this yr. I truly and honestly believe that the Yankee club is going to eventually run away from the sox IN THE REGULAR SEASON. If the sox figure out their rotation and the Rays fall from grace (which they might do depending on how their O comes together and if their pitching cannot continue their ridiculous run) then the sox are every bit as dangerous when the postseason comes around
  2. I told you the sox team was a 90+ win team. I think the Yankee team is a 100 win team assuming they can get f***ing healthy. The question is whether the Rays are as good as they started or whether they will fall off the map.
  3. No hits with RISP. Kevin Russo and Brett Gardner bring in 2 of the three runs. Seriously, when the hell will the middle of the order do something?
  4. f*** that, it's football. This is gonna be a smash hit financially and from a fan standpoint. If these wimps cannot play in the weather, then they are just looking for excuses
  5. 11 runners in 6IP wont get the job done most of the time. Wonder if there is something wrong with the guy.
  6. The Yankees are gonna go on a run again. They have their first true run through fluff coming up.
  7. Good job douchebag ARod. If you are gonna field like a cock-smoking homo, at least hit the f***ing ball at the dish.
  8. After sucking for a little while, the sox offense is out of their mind. I wonder how the Rays will react to this. This is the first time this season that the Rays are facing some adversity. Young teams can crumble in this situation
  9. I never thought I would look at the Yankee lineup and just say that it sucks top to bottom. No ability to hit with RISP, the middle of the order is a black hole, and the only guys who were hitting arent anymore. We need to get Posada and Granderson back ASAP.
  10. Wait, so Franklin Morales AND Ianetta for a glorified DH? That's just stupid
  11. Good win in game 1. Tied now in game 2. This lineup is f***iing pathetic right now. Kevin Russo is our best hitter right now, which is hilarious. On a related note, I think Russo has won the utility guy spot. My guess is that Pena goes down to start in the middle infield for awhile
  12. Drew is what he is. An above average defender who'll hit 20+ homers and reach base close to 40% of the time. As nice as his stats look, he is more of a role player and works well in the sox lineup. For 2 months out of the yr, he carries your club and for the rest of the time, he walks and strikes out, thats about it. Most any team would want him, but he isnt the second coming of Ted Williams like some would have us believe.
  13. He's been good, but not 3.07ERA good. 1.4 baserunners per inning and 4 walks per 9 is more akin to a pitcher with an ERA in the mid 4's. Still good, but he is due for a correction over the next few weeks.
  14. y228, why bother posting facts when you can just be a moron. Cmon man, think
  15. Girardi played a good tactitian in Florida. He came to NY and just did what Torre did, except didnt burn out his bullpen, which eventually won him a championship. Managing the way he is will not keep us in a playoff spot for long with the current roster we have. We need to get healthy fast or we're gonna be in trouble. Continuing to hit Gardner in the 2 hole and Tex in the 3 hole with Grandy, Posada and Johnson out is a frickin death sentence. Gardner is exposed in the 2 hole right now. He fits much better as the pest in the 9 hole. Tex, right now, is hitting in a integral part of the lineup and is just sucking. He's got nearly 30RBI out of a .200BA. Think about all the runners he's stranded. Also, what the f*** is up with our late inning rallies. Lie completely dormant for 8 innings, then score enough runs to make it respectable in the 9th. f***ing ridiculous. Our starters are coming back down to earth, our pen is inexplicably blowing big leads. Our lineup gets a ton of runners on but cannot make contact to bring runners home. How many more times must I see 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and we dont get the f***ing run home. Regardless, some of the pain will be alleviated this week with Granderson coming back and probably Swisher moving up to the 2 hole. Thus allowing Gardy to move to the 9 hole and Granderson down to the 6 or 7 hole depending on the pitcher. That sets up a L/R platoon at DH with Thames and Miranda, thus allowing us to keep Thames bat, but avoid him butchering games in the OF. The bats will break out soon
  16. Time to start shifting around the lineup. I know the team isnt hitting, but Tex is f***ing useless right now and it is absolutely f***ing killing us. Gardner is exposed at the top of the order. Jeter isnt hitting for s***. The only two guys still hitting are Cano (somewhat) and Swisher. Move them into the 2 and 3 hole, keep ARod at 4 and put Tex 5th. s*** we gotta get healthy
  17. Umpire f***s us. Now down 4-0.
  18. On this rainy Hawaiian morning, I figure I would go for another minor league update prior to the start of rookie ball and the draft in 2 weeks. AAA Colin Curtis started out hot, but has been on the DL with an ankle injury since the end of April Jesus Montero is starting to turn it on. His near .900OPS over the past 10 games shows improvement. Would like to see more balls driven over the fence, but he is starting to hit a few doubles as well as a significant improvement in the walk department. Eduardo Nunez continues to hit, but the peripheral department is starting to suffer. His AVG sits at .327, which is solid for a SS. But he hasnt walked in 10 games and has seen his OPS slip to .788. Regardless, with Russo and Pena in the bigs, Nunez has definitely been pegged to stay in AAA all yr, which may not be that bad of a thing for the 22 yr old. Zach McAllister seems to be turning a corner. After an abysmal start to begin the month (7ER in 3IP), he has strung together 3 consecutive 7 inning performances. Overall, a respectable 4.33ERA in AAA and a 1.36WHIP, but the concerning thing for me is his GO/AO. He's a sinkerballer, so the BAA of .292 isnt too bad, but the GO/AO of 0.7 is. Romulo Sanchez is starting to turn himself around. He came up to NY and had a strong outing before going back down. And now, over his past 3 starts, he's been untouchable. 20IP 3ER 9BB 24K. His control isnt great, but he is getting more swings and misses. He is starting to round into a big league option out of the pen. Ivan Nova got a little messed up by his stint in the bigs. He went 17 days inbetween starts and it showed, only lasting 2.1IP and giving up 5ER. Mark Melancon continues to dominate and the Yankees keep f***ing around with him. In his last 4 appearances, he's struck out 13 in 5.2IP without allowing a run. Might be time to give him a chance and send down Logan, since Logan has no future and this kid looks to have a good one AA Austin Romine is killing the ball. .323/.386/.512 line is solid for the first time AA player. Romine continues to show that he has a big league future as a solid all around catching prospect. David Adams also was killing the ball, although an injury 2 days ago looks like he might be missing some time due to an ankle injury. His .900OPS, 15 doubles, and 18 walks leads the team Brandon Laird is also swinging the stick very well in AA. Laird smacked his team leading 8th homer today, which brought his BA up to .293 and OPS to .842. Losing Jeremy Bleich hurts this team, as he looks to be having shoulder surgery. Wilkin de la Rosa, a converted starter to reliever has been absolutely terrible. He looked like a future lefty reliever for the big club, but his conversion hasnt been smoothe. David Phelps is jumping up the Yankee prospect sheet, albeit had a rought game today. He sits at 3-0, 2.59ERA and a WHIP under 1 after 8 starts. DJ Mitchell continues to be lackluster in AA, with an ERA north of 5 and a WHIP north of 1.5. The sinkerballer continues to keep the ball in the yard (only 1 homer) and continues to get grounders (2.07GO/AO), but he continues to struggle with command. A+ Well, we lost Abraham Almonte for the season after shoulder surgery. Corban Joseph continues to swing the bat well, with a .296BA and .764OPS in a pretty tough offensive conference. The rest of the offense has been non-existant. Bradley Suttle has been bad and Neil Medchill has been incredibly bad. The pitching has been solid. Adam Warren continues to dominate. A sub 2ERA and a 1.12WHIP have him leading the staff. He looks primed to be promoted with Bleich down due to injury. Hector Noesi got promoted last week after putting up 53K in 43IP and a sub 1WHIP Andrew Brackman has started to turn it around. He's put up 16IP 13H 5ER 2BB 12K over his last 3 starts. He still remains a massive project and a likely pen candidate, but they are starting to see a healthier, more controlled pitcher And for the sideshow, Pat Venditte continues to dominate. WHIP under 1, 29K in 23IP as well. A Charleston got a real prospect this past week with JR Murphy being promoted. He's 8 for 24 in his first 6 games. Zoilo Almonte continues to hit. His OPS of .833 has been a nice continuation of his progress from last season's impressive SI season Luke Murton is probably the best hitter on the team, although he is probably more of a filler prospect. He leads the team with 6 homers and an .839OPS DeAngelo Mack fell off the map. Jimmy Paredes and Robert Lyerly are starting to swing the bat a bit better, but both are still projects Graham Stoneburner got promoted after dominating A ball and has started off okay with a 1.1WHIP, but his 5+ERA and 6BB in 10IP could be improved upon Jose Ramirez continues to dominate. WHIP right around 1, ERA in the mid 2's and about a K per inning Kelvin Perez is about ready for a promotion. 2.59ERA and a 1.19WHIP for the 24 yr old, probably time to see him pitch in the FSL. Sean Black seems to be turning it around after being bombed through April. His overall numbers still suck, but he should turn in a pretty good yr should his improvements continue On the injury front.... George Kontos (Tommy John) is throwing off flat ground. He should be ready for instructs after the season and be ready for AAA action again for 2011. Manny Banuelos (appendectomy) is still about a week away from playing in Tampa Dellin Betances (Tommy John) is pitching in extended and should be seen in a short season game by season's end.
  19. Frankie Piliere again. The Yankees in on 3 guys on that list. Wouldnt be surprised at all if the Yankees nab one of the two SS's and Heredia plus a bunch of other guys off the radar. NY needs to learn that signing a bunch of middling dominican prospects like they did in 2008 isnt gonna cut it. Signing Montero in 2006, DeLeon in 2007, and Sanchez in 2009 will be a big draw for them. You gotta nab a top notch player every July 2nd.
  20. Looks like the injury brigade is starting to abate. Swisher is swinging from both sides of the plate without pain, so we averted a disaster there. And Granderson is playing in AAA right now with an eye towards next week. Having Posada out until the middle of June hurts a bunch, though, as he and Cervelli could have made a good C/DH opportunity while Johnson was out. Might be time to start talking about Montero coming up, should Posada need more time than advertised. Montero is starting to swing it a bit, with an .889OPS over the last 10 games. What is more impressive is the 6 walks in that time. Maybe, just maybe, he would translate that into some big league production for us.
  21. Halladay got too much movement today. The 2 seamers were riding into the zone and the offspeed pitches were breaking out of the zone for balls. The sox made him pay.
  22. It undoubtedly is. The Philly-TB series was one of the least watched WS of the modern TV era. The MLB bean counters love it when NY or Boston make a world series. Big fan bases stretched across the globe tuning in to see their favorite teams play for it all. I would venture to guess that the overseas TB Ray fans are in the single digits. Now, separating the good of the game and the good of the business of baseball, then having TB be a good team is split. Having TB be a great team is great for the game, but horrible for the business.
