    I'm a little late to the party but I'd like to comment on the JD Drew situation. I don't really like him more than I did Trot Nixon, but platooning him and Mike Cameron doesn't seem to be hurting the team too much. Players go through cycles, especially in baseball. He sucks now, but he has collected timely hits recently and in the past few years. Pedroia, Salty, Varitek, Scutaro and Crawford have all hit for atrocious averages at some point this season and I'm glad the Sox still have them.

    Beckett goes 7 strong, gives up 2 ERs and his ERA goes up. Unbelievable pitching this year.

    He had a gutty performance today. I know 5.1IP and 5ER isn't great but for the #5 pitcher against the Yankees, I don't think it's necessarily terrible either - especially given the way the Sox have been ripping the cover off the ball. And Aceves was dynamite. They may be a decent #5 duo. Besides, at least one of the runs Wakefield gave up was dumb. That "HBP" on Cano was questionable.

    Let me rephrase then. With Lackey rejoining and Dice-K done for the season, I don't mind having Wakefield and Aceves share the 5th spot. The commentator on ESPN just noted how Aceves throws around 95 which probably seems like 110MPH after seeing a bunch of knuckleballs. Didn't the Sox have this issue back when Brad Penny showed he couldn't go past 5-6 innings? EDIT 2 minutes later: of course they're not looking too good right now, but it is against the Yankees

    This is embarrassing but I don't even remember the Yankees' rotation. There's a guy named Nova on there right? Sabathia is still their ace? Who else is on it?

    I don't think Wake is a terrible 5th option. It wasn't too long ago that he was an all-star and had 16 wins. Aceves seems to be doing alright as well. If he can give the Sox 6 innings, 2 ER which is what they hoped for out of Brad Penny, the rotation should be fine. Although I do like the idea of Derek Lowe returning and Aceves moving back to the LRP position

    Of course not, I wouldn't have written "Go Twins!" if that were true. That is a good point though - the Yankees losing would still be higher on my list than the Angels losing. There's still hope for the Twins though.

    Not me. My girlfriend tried to argue with me that rooting against the team that beat your team is unsportsmanlike, bitter and petty. And it probably is, but why would you want to root for the team that ruined your team's chance at happiness? Go Twins, Go Rockies!
