  1. Perhaps I misheard a commentator saying that Loretta only strikes out once every 15 ABs? It sounds far fetched to me even, but I wouldn't be all too surprised if it were true. That's what I mean by patient contact hitter. Loretta is one of 4 reasons this year's defense was so good. The other 3 being Lowell, Gonzalez and Youkilis
  2. Mark Loretta Pros -hit .300 for most of the season -comes up with timely hits -solid defensively -plays every IF position -patient, contact hitter Mark Loretta cons -files for free agency -doesn't hit a HR every AB
  3. Good deal
  4. I wouldn't mind either
  5. A-Rod's my least-disliked Yankee, but I still wouldn't do it.
  6. Seems to me that you're going by only HRs. Nixon's OBP is higher and he is a better contact hitter, which I prefer to a guy that hits HRs once every 9 games Even if he hit a HR once every 5 games and he didn't strike out once every 3 at bats, what do you have to say about his fielding? He's got a good arm, that's for sure. But I can't say much else
  7. Ortiz wasn't out for nearly as many games as Nixon OR Pena... And what's with all the talk about HRs? Yeah they're nice, but this calculating is ridiculous. I'd rather have a guy that hits a single 1 of every 3 at bats than have a guy that strikes out 5 times out of 9 and gets a HR once every 20 at bats. (Not comparing Nixon and Pena here, just using examples)
  8. I'm with you on that. WMP is alright, but I don't think he's an upgrade over Trot
  9. I want him back. He's a solid player
  10. I thought Kapler did a fine job this year, and he's in great shape. I hope he doesn't retire
  11. 'K' from time to time? Community not important? I can't believe what I'm hearing. Talk about tunnel vision
  12. He can still contribute..and that's no reason to hate Nixon himself. He's a hard worker, a great outfielder and a big contributor to the community
  13. Timlin in! Watching Gameday on MLB
  14. Argh! NESN not showing the game
  15. With Baseball being one of the most popular sports around the world, does anyone have a comprehensive list of all the players on the Red Sox that have participated in past international events (including the WBC) ? Thanks
  16. Tavarez dive to second was priceless!
  17. ^Yeah, Beckett had great stuff through 5 innings.
  18. Still watching the Sox Game. Wakefield never gets run support
