  1. the moneyball series
  2. And the 2006 season is over. It was great for Papi, awkward for Manny, disappointing for Beckett and crushing since August. Lets go into the offseason with thoughts of next year. Hopefully with Schilling and a healthy Papelbon. Remember Trot Nixon. Remember Tim Wakefield. Remember 2004, and that missing the playoffs is not the end of the world. We waited 86 years, we can stand to have an off season. On to 2007.
  3. i know, just thought it was bad that nobody recognized it
  4. um, by the way, Hansack has this thing called a no-hittter going. I hope the fans stick around to give Nixon his due, but I think he has to step aside and let Wily Mo take over. I think Hinske should stick with us too.
  5. get off of this board if you cannot recognize what Pedro did for the franchise. I have said it on this board before: he is my favorite player I have ever seen. If I could pick one guy I want to see do well, it is Pedro. Are you a Red Sox fan?
  6. I would form a protest is Castiglione is gone. I got to meet him in Baltimore and he was a really nice guy. I read his book, great read for a Red Sox fan. He is almost unfirable. Trupiano leaving is fine with me. All he does is get your heart rate up for no good reason.

  8. yeah, saying one of the Twins Rockies or Angels will be in the playoffs, he must be phsycic
  9. Maybe you guys have heard that the Hartford Courant is reporting that Clemens is still interested in playing for the Red Sox and could be back with us next year. It still seems a bit unlikely to me, but the thought excites me. Anybody else feel the same?
  10. i dont like when teams completely change colors. The D-Backs were recognizable with the purple, they won a World Series with it. I am all for a slight logo change or maybe more emphasis on something, but from purple and teal to red and black is too much.
  11. i would not be a happy camper if that sign came down :thumbdown
  12. oops, i meant to, just forgot when I went to talk about Cano
  13. Derek Jeter, Matsui and Bernie Williams. I think Robinson Cano is a good kid too
  14. If we can get Cordero, forget about Lidge, he is a headcase. Plus, I would say we have about a 1 percent chance of getting both
  15. now that the Sox are eliminated, I would like nothing more than for Pedro to lead the Mets through the playoffs with a great performance. Pedro is my favorite player of the generation, and that will not change. Here's to success for Pedro.
  16. if Wake is back, I hope he goes to the bullpen.
  17. i really haven't done a fantasy basketball team before, but I'd like to try, sign me up
  18. good for Soriano, not just for this, but for staying positive in Washington and helping the franchise. I would really be impressed if he re-signed with them. Loyalty is underrated
  19. i don't think it would be that easy for him to run in the IROC since he lives in Europe and all of those occur in America, but IROC is really a pretty cheap series. It is also for oval racers, not road course guys.
  20. I think Snyder has earned a spot in next year's bullpen. I don't know about Kason Gabbard yet, I would like Pauley to get a shot at a rotation spot in spring training, he was solid in his time in Boston.
  21. good riddens, I hate that guy. I'm glad he is leaving, and I'm pretty positive that is not what you wanted to hear, but that is what I think.
  22. 7 2/3 perfect, broken up by Adam Kennedy single to center
  23. i think we are overestimating how many pitchers our FO is going to go after. They are going to pick 1 of the Matsuzaka/Schmidt/Zito(i agree, bad idea for Fenway). And where you think you are going to find a good set up man, or even more unlikely, a great closer, I have no idea. I think with Varitek, Hansen Breslow and MDC will be considerably better next season, just by experience. We can hope for another starter, and Meche is a good possibility, but believe it or not, other teams want pitching too, and we didn't just win the World Series this time.
  24. they didnt even put Green in there!
  25. i'd say seattle's FO got a little desperate or antsy after watching that game yesterday. While we cannot really say we are content, I think people make too big a deal out of Deion Branch, it does not decimate this unit. Watson will be the breakout player of the year
