  1. i think if we are going to send manny to the Pads, Linebrink has to be in the deal, but I love Kouzmanoff
  2. I do not think the Padres have any chance at getting Manny, I'm pretty sure the discussion on this board has decided that the Dodgers are the only team with a chance now that the Angels are out of the race
  3. http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=169535&srvc=sports What do you make of that? Big Deal?
  4. the Glavine thing is not out of the blue, there is a story on SI that says he is negotiating with Atlanta
  5. hmm, my bad, good for us I guess really has not been much noise on here about it
  6. alright. I have said it here before, I am a diehard Hokie fan and season ticket holder. Vick is only good when he is turned loose. He has to have the ability in the offense to make plays, not follow them. The problem is, he will never be a complete NFL QB because while he will be spectacular, he will eventually get hurt. I love Vick and everything he did for Tech, but the NFL is not completely his cup of tea. Receivers would help, and he can be a very good QB, but will not revolutionize the game.
  7. he has not been nearly as talked about as JD Drew. We will almost certainly sign drew, but if we are close with lugo, it has been very quiet
  8. yes, because we were talking about a shortstop. Betemit would be a somewhat different conversation as a 1B. With your Betemit proposal, we still do not have a shortstop.
  9. failing a physical does not necessarily mean injury. Most of the time it does, but I think at least we could look into it, and if we find it in our physical, oh well
  10. definitely, we need to jump on that with Baez being taken and Gagne apparently not talking with the Sox.
  11. completely agreed. I live in Richmond and watched him numerous times when he was in the Braves farm system, (AAA team is in Richmond) and he is below average defensively, offers very little speed on the basepaths and can be extremely streaky.
  12. i still like the idea of bringing in Orlando Cabrera
  13. that is kind of detailed, where did it come from?
  14. To answer the thread's original question. While I do think it is a good baseball decision to trade Manny now, I will be sad to see him go. That goofball patrolling left field is a major clubhouse and fan loss. I will miss Manny, but the time to get value is now, and we have to move on. Just remember what he did for us.
  15. sorry, I can go with 2 but there is no way Wang is a bonafide ace
  16. ORS just quit fighting this guy. Nobody cares what he said these past few days anyway, he has trounced any good reputations he had.
  17. wow, 2 japanese number 3 starters on the same team! that is going international
  18. I would most definitely part with Al and a first rounder for Gasol
  19. If you are making fun of Japanese baseball players, we'll take that Matsui guy off of your hands.
  20. Don't go overboard. The Astros are not chop liver, especially if Clemens resigns, and through some miracle, the Cardinals managed to pull a World Series out of Jeff Weaver's butt.
  21. there is an insider article that completely explores the trade rumor supposedly, but I'm not an insider, here is a link that at least validates the rumor http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2678867
  22. I do not know any specifics on this trade, but there was an ESPN article that I do not have at the moment that mentioned that the Grizzlies were listening to trade offers for Pau.
  23. what is there to say we would not get Crede or figgins out of the deal?
  24. I'm not sure what the problem is with Kolb. He did fine after Turnbow imploded. Maybe he will not be closer, but I think he is a good addition to the pen On the Braves: They do not want to take on salary, so prospects and young major leaguers are the way they want the team to look. Lowell is a mentor on the bench
  25. the Dodgers are not really the place to look for that, no
