  1. yeah, this is Ian Kennedy, he has never been to the majors before, Yankees drafted and raised
  2. I think Melky>Gonzalez, and McLouth is not that much better than Kennedy, plus he is not raised in the Yanks system I'm just saying. I do not care that much, because Gonzalez is not a big deal to me
  3. In a way I hope it happens. I think Melky and Kennedy are extremely dangerous, and that trading Melky for a bullpen guy with no big game or American League experience is a mistake. McLouth is good I guess, but the Yankees have a solid core of pitchers they are developing in house. Trading Kennedy is a risk. I hope they do it. I do not really like Gonzales for the Sox anyway.
  4. I do not think Hinske is necessarily declining noticeably, but Melky is definitely on the upswing, with a promising future. Plus, it is the Pirates. Melky is undoubtedly the better choice between those two. Heck, I would like to have Melky.
  5. I agree. We ought to give this guy a season to reendear himself to Boston and make his lasting image the positive one it should be. Just one adjustment: Do not give away his number. Let him lead us to the playoffs and then retire it. (repeat process if pedro ever gets healthy)
  6. I also thought it was unfair that Melo was suspended 15 when Robinson and Smith were only sat for 10. Melo only had one piece in the fight, they were the fight. Shouldn't they be suspended for 20 games for going into the crowd, like Stephen Jackson and Ron Artest? I think Stern is being unfair only to make an example of a star player. By the way, it was a nice slap, punch whatever, it knocked the guy down
  7. Wily Mo would be the option. Toronto would never trade Rios within the division
  8. In more positive news, the Boston Celtics have won 5 in a row and are leading the Atlantic division with a sub-.500 record!
  9. yeah, I have got to say that was one random and unlikely trade idea
  10. al, rondo and a first rounder is too much for me
  11. I think it is less of a necessity with Donnelly coming in. He is a top notch relief pitcher, altough he has not been a closer. His prescence will take a lot of pressure situations away from the aging Timlin. This will give Manny D and Craig Hansen time to progress, and I think one of them will eventually step into the role. In the sense of trading for a closer, I think it would be a better move to buy time for someone inside the organization to step up.
  12. Youk can play many positions, but second base is not one of them. Obviously you are a shallow baseball fan right now. Hinske is an extra player right now and is being shopped to see what his value is. Pedroia is an almost no doubt high end major leaguer. SS Lugo 1B Youk/or Pedroia later DH Ortiz LF Manny RF Drew 3B Lowell/Youk would be good here too C Varitek 2B Pedroia CF Crisp
  13. Dave O'Brien is the guy on ESPN who works with Rick Sutcliffe I believe. He called the World Cup. I am actually shocked he is leaving his job. He is ESPN's top notch baseball guy. He is much better than Trupiano, and as long as they keep Joe C. around, I'm good. I don't live in the Boston area, so I have XM, and the radio broadcasters are a big deal to me.
  14. I think this is the best value move the Sox have made this offseason. Terrific trade, I really like Donnelly
  15. I think, if nothing else, Dice-K will bring the respectful, hard working approach to the game, bust his butt for the fans, just like Hideki Matsui and Ichiro, whom I know we all respect. He is going to where number 18. Let's hope he is the greatest 18 ever.
  16. Lidge is a blob of jelly whenever a big game is on the line now. Pujols completely oblitterated his killer mentality.
  17. I would do it, but I certainly do not think the Astros would settle for that. They also lost two good young pitchers, and they would probably want one of our big prospects, in which case Lidge is a little bit too risky for me.
  18. I have to say, we may have made ourselves look extravagant with the spending for "Dice-K," Drew and Lugo, but so far this has been a successful offseason. I think we have improved our team more than the Yankees have improved theirs. The Blue Jays have not gotten all that much better. All we need is a closer
  19. why not try?
  20. I personally saw him get eaten up in Fenway in 2004. I do not recall exactly how many he got tagged for, but the Sox won 11-0
  21. Ladanian Tomlinson has the TD record.
  22. I was just saying maybe, but that is absurd
  23. This from Peter Gammons latest column: Essentially, there's nothing on the market except for Tony Armas, which has been discussed, so if spring training were to open Monday, 28-year-old Devern Hansack, the Nicarauguan veteran who threw a five inning no-hitter the last day of the season, would be the first choice as closer. I'm not sure Hansack is quite that good of a prospect.
  24. Maybe Al Jefferson will start playing consistently like the star we thought he would be.
