1. *Test* c9q30Ce2vwE It's just like ORS said. Code after equal sign in URL[/ youtube] (Without the space after the slash).
2. If the Yankees do get Granderson, does he play CF and Cabrera to LF, vice versa or another option in LF?
3. This is true, but he's also a monster against RHP. The Yankees just have to give him the Trot Nixon treatment.
4. I'd like to see a more legit source before analyzing this too much, but... Unless they really do trade Hughes and Jackson, this is a great deal for NY. Granderson had a down year by his standards but still had an average offensive season. He had a .276 BABIP in 2009 which should improve. Plus he's a lefty pull hitter, so one can expect his SLG to increase. He hit 30 HR in 2009 and could get 35+ in 2010. He's a solid fielder also. I'm not as high on Jackson--I don't think he's as good as his 2009 season but he will be a solid 3 or 4 in the Yankee rotation.
5. Kason Gabbard, not Eric Gagne.
6. That's a hefty sum for Penny. Overpay IMO.
7. Either way, I'd ask for Montero. They have nothing at catcher. EDIT: And is there a link on Lopez more recent than this one?
8. Pedroia and Jeter actually have had remarkably similar stats from 2007-2009. I think there's a fair comparison. Obviously Jeter has had a more successful career so far, but if Pedroia keeps going at his pace, he's going to be something special. He's more than a "decent" player.
9. No really "close" encounters, but I've met Dwight Evans (posted it here), and had a solid conversation with Sal Fasano.
10. It says Scutaro signed with the Sox after medical examination, contract terms unknown, more information shortly.
11. I think he's surpassed Beckett as the #1.
12. Shoppach to Tampa Bay for a PTBNL.
13. ST is still a few months away, and deals don't normally get made that late anyways. I don't think this is as huge news as you guys.
14. This is where the mixture that y228 was talking about comes into play. You're right, if you only looked at statistics, you wouldn't get the whole picture in that scenario. Of course there's nobody that only studies statistics and doesn't watch any games--if you're a baseball fan, you watch baseball. I've said this before, but there are different levels of fandom. You can be a perfectly "good" fan if you just watch the games, and you would have a solid understanding of baseball. Statistics, in my opinion, make that understanding deeper. There's room for both.
15. Ramon Martinez? .193/.242/.241 over the past three years, negative UZR. He makes Nick Green look like Honus Wagner.
16. I never said I think Scutaro is good. I think Scutaro sucks and wouldn't be anything more than a league average player.
17. I concur. At this point I'd be surprised if Scutaro isn't the SS this season.
18. Scutaro's not a bad defensive shortstop. Green may be better, but he's also awful offensively. I'm not thrilled about Scutaro but I'd easily take him over Green.
19. The problem is Iggy has no pop. Thank you, thank you.
20. Not to nit-pick, but Kyle Drabek hasn't pitched an inning over AA.
21. Since this Drew argument comes up about once a month, I find it's better to let it go. If you want to say he's been a disappointment, that's your call, and I couldn't disagree with you more.
