  1. Yeah, I wouldn't go into the year with Putz closing, especially not after his last two years. And Ken Williams says the same apparently.
  2. It doesn't take CS into account though.
  3. They're both good for different reasons, but I imagine the OBP helps more than the low SB% hurts.
  4. The streak might end, but I don't think it will be because of the players. The diehard fans will go either way, and the pink hat fans don't go because of the players, they go because it's the cool thing to do. The streak did continue through 2006, after all.
  5. I must warn you that I don't share the same medical condition as Lester.
  6. Ahahaha. OP, once I forgive you for not being Rocco Baldelli, I will be looking forward to your posts.
  7. Are you Rocco Baldelli?
  8. Hermida will take his place, so I think Rocco can go elsewhere. Welcome to the site.
  9. I agree that he's not worth 17.5, but at this point it's either pony up for Bay or go into 2010 with Hermida. I'm not thrilled with either scenario, but I'd take Bay.
  10. Word of mouth, newspapers, radio, television, other websites. Or whatever.
  11. I usually read ORS' posts in either a Shatner or James Earl Jones tone.
  12. So corny. a700, are you going to Ft. Myers this year?
  13. Lowell isn't anywhere close to a good fielder. He's lost all mobility and is a liability in the field. He will be valuable for Texas as a DH in that park. As for Beltre, I respectfully disagree. His UZR (gasp) and RF/9 were at the top of the league this year for 3B, which is a career trend. If the Sox do end up signing Beltre, then the sum of the two deals ends up as Lowell and a bunch of cash for Beltre and Ramirez. I'd consider that a good deal.
  14. A flurry of moves today: Kevin Millwood to Orioles; Chris Ray to Rangers Matt Lindstrom to Astros; 2 MiLBers and a PTBNL to Marlins Rich Harden to Rangers
  15. Gom, I'm not saying your observations are wrong, but if you're judging UZR based on how much they agree with your subjective observations, then what's the point of even considering defensive stats? The only one that would be any good would be the one that matches up perfectly with your observations, and that point it's useless anyways. For the record I think UZR is one of the better fielding metrics, which isn't saying a whole lot because fielding metrics aren't nearly as advanced as hitting or fielding. It has its faults for sure, and that includes its judgment of Teixeira. But I don't think three players on one team in one season is enough to discount the stat as a whole.
  16. 1) Overpaid 2) Soft 3) No RBIs Moving on.
  17. I honestly would take Scherzer over Jackson, straight up.
  18. 2010: 5.5 2011: 8.25 2012: 10 2013: 13 (club option)
  19. I really dislike this deal for Arizona. Maybe I'm overreacting on Jackson but I don't think he's a front of the rotation (1 or 2) starter. Scherzer and Schlereth seems like too much.
