    The race thing is such a non-issue. The Red Sox did not get Cameron and Hall because they are black. That's absurd.

    I agree, especially after trading LaRoche for him. Also, what does the bench look like without Lowell or Kotchman? Varitek, Middle Infielder (Green, Hulett, someone else), Hermida, and one more.

    Ortiz doesn't count as a 1B, but Kotchman shouldn't be on the roster. No need to waste a bench spot on a guy with zero positional flexibility when there are two other guys who can play the position.

    Interesting (pretty sure I've said this about every signing this winter, I'll check). The Sox have a clear vision and model they're going for, no doubt about that.
