Yeah they're voted for before the playoffs.
This brings up the age old debate of whether MVP's should come from playoff teams. I say no, it's a reward for the individual player.
Yeah Howard was on a World Series winning team, but he isn't even their best hitter. At least IMO, Utley is better than Howard. Howard's BA and OBP (.251, .339) make it hard to make a case for him, again IMO.
Some things today:
-Chad Cordero, former Red Sox closer candidate and actual good pitcher, is a FA after refusing a AAA assignment.
-Wily Mo Pena exercised his 2009 option with Washington.
-The Mets re-signed Fernando Tatis for 1 year, 1.7 M.
