  1. Since no one else wants to make one I'll take it upon myself to make another gamethread. I feel like I'm turning into SOTK here. Tampa Bay Devil Rays (61-83) @ Boston Red Sox (87-58)
  2. This is a good point, but they way the Yankees have been playing I think I'll be happy if TOR doesn't get swept. I expect the division to be down to 4 games heading into this weekend.
  3. SMARTBALL!!!!

  5. Sox back even, Yanks still ahead of pace: Red Sox: Predicted - 87-57 Actual - 87-57 (Even) Yankees: Predicted - 79-64 Actual - 81-62 (+2) I have the Yanks losing 2/3 to the Jays this week, but that prediction might be wrong because they miss Halladay (again). The Yanks are throwing their three *worst* pitchers, so it'll be interesting to see how they do. Sox dropped the opener to the Rays and Kazmir, hopefully the rebound and take the last two.
  6. We clog the bases too much, we need to steal and bunt more.
  7. Tell that to Wily Mo Pena. Cora is not a 1.2 OPS player. No one is. HE has experienced what we call regression, closer to his normal abilities. But your argument holds zero weight when you want a player with an OPS+ of 19 to get any kind of playing time. Twice in one week Tito should have PH Cora and failed to do so. Twice in a crucial spot Cora has failed to deliver. Sound statistical analysis here. Lugo has more range than Cora at short. http://www.hardballtimes.com/thtstats/main/index.php?view=fielding&linesToDisplay=50&orderBy=pos&direction=DESC&qual_filter=ignore&season_filter%5B%5D=2007&league_filter%5B%5D=All&team_filter%5B%5D=BOS&pos_filter%5B%5D=6&Submit=Submit Lugo has a slightly lower zone rating (.799 to .818), but has made more plays outside of his zone (50 to 10). IMO, the differences in zone rating are made up by the differences in range, so their defenses are comparable. Good thing Francona chooses to play him over Cora.
  8. Um, read my post?
  9. ........ Please tell me you're joking. I'd like to think you're better than this post. PLEASE. Alex Cora: April - .360/.407/.800/1.207 May - .294/.339/.353/.692 June - .216/.286/.378/.664 July - .152/.200/.212/..412 August - .257/.316/.343/.659 September - .000/.000/.000/.000 If we take a look at his second half, we get these numbers: 66 ABs 11 hits (A sparkling .167 BA) He has 4 extra base hits, all doubles, making his slugging .227. His OBP is .225. His OPS is then .453. His OPS+ is 19. Now take a look at Lugo's numbers. 211 ABs, 63 hits (.299 BA) 24 XBH (.422 SLG) OBP of .332. OPS of .754. OPS+ of 95.
  10. If I were the Jets I'd be more concerned about being vastly outplayed in every facet of the game.
  11. We can beat Lackey, done it twice this year.
  12. Someone's still bitter from SB XXXI. No big deal, it's OK. Is his three consecutive MVPs a joke? Don't be bitter. Because he plays so well on defense too On what planet is T martin a better QB than Manning? What does this have to do with anything, besides prove my point? What about Brady's INT to end the game? You're mentioning his supporting cast, not the QB himself.
  13. I'm winning my game when my QB pulled in a solid -3. Nice.
  14. I'd rather face the Angels in a short series. Carmona/Sabathia in a 5 game set is frightening.
  15. lulz
  16. Do you think Brady is one of the best ever?
  17. Selfish player? That's pretty comical. You really think the Packers would be better off with Aaron Rodgers as their QB the last two seasons? They were a playoff team in '04. Was Rodgers going to make a difference in '05? Last year? Get off your soapbox. He's not what he once was but the guy is an all time great.
  18. In what universe is Bobby Kielty better than JD Drew?
