  1. They played three competitive games at the tail end of a ten game road trip, against a team built for Yankee Stadium IN Yankee Stadium that were desperate for wins. And yet, they come out of the series still 5 GAMES AHEAD. The Sox vs. Contenders this season: NYY (7-8) LAA (6-4) SEA (4-5) DET (3-4) CLE (5-2) Record - 25-23 You wouldn't be upset if someone was throwing 98 at your head? What did you want him to do, charge the mound and get suspended? Or trying to avoid the double play, whatever works for you. This did happen, yes. But DiceK hit Arod. The timing of this was questionable at best and Tito had a legit beef.
  2. People are acting like we got destroyed in NY, too. We lost by 2, 1 and 5 runs respectively. And the third game was competitive until the 8th. We lost close games to a desperate team in their house without Manny. Why the hand wringing?
  3. Works beautiful for me.
  4. I'm McLovin and I won't be around for that date.
  5. Ok, that was a bad series. Not a big deal though, up 5 with 28 to go should inspire a lot of confidence for Sox fans. We just need to keep winning series and we'll be totally fine. Baltimore Orioles (58-74) @ Boston Red Sox (80-54)
  6. This is on Yahoo, correct?
  7. Red Sox gave life to the Yanks just like the Yanks gave life to the Tiggers last week. Don't be shocked if Detroit makes a bit of a run...
  8. God you're a miserable sack of s***. That being said, it's quite remarkable to see the Yanks in this position, but not too remarkable. They were too good of a team to be playing like they were. I'll take the 5 game lead, thank you very much.
  9. I will be at the Sox game Saturday night. I would definitely be down for either Sunday or Monday evening, however.
  10. I call dibs on the next gamethread. I blame the sweep solely on the fact I couldn't log into the f***ing website since Sunday morning.
  11. Close to over, but missed a golden chance to end it this week. No biggie, win the next series.
  12. Sadly, they are one back. Red Sox - Predicted - 81-53 Actual - 80-54 (-1) Yankees - Predicted - 72-62 Actual - 75-59 (+3) Sox lose a chance to essentially end the division race, but losing Manny for 2/3 games will do that for you. Luckily, we get the O's this weekend and we miss Erik Bedard, who has been scratched from his start Friday night against Wakefield. Yanks get 3 with the lowly Rays and somehow miss Kazmir and Shields again.
  13. Boston Red Sox (79-51) @ Chicago White Sox (56-73) Yesterday, Tim Wakefield tied Josh Beckett for the league lead in wins. Bobby Kielty began to make a name for himself, and Mike Lowell continued his hot streak. Today, Julian makes it a sweep and we head into the Bronx with at least a 6 game lead. WIN.
  14. God if the Tigers were still in the division lead the MVP race would be a lot closer.
  15. ORS, I'll just call a good old-fashioned asswhooping.
  16. Can Fat Billy finally regress to the mean?
  17. PS Putz records a 1-2-3 ninth and the M's win 4-2. Does that make this another "must-win" for the Yanks?
  18. Can I voice my displeasure to the mod who is changing my GT titles?
  19. Boston Red Sox (78-51) @ Chicago White Sox (56-72) Schilling pitched fairly well against the worst offense in the league. Ortiz and Youkilis showed some pop, and Lowell continues to make his case for an extension. Today, Wakefield matches Beckett's league leading 16 wins and Mark Buehrle wishes he was traded to Boston. WIN.
