  1. That's a shame, because he's 100% right.
  2. Ron Gardenhire, most overrated manager in the sport behind LaRussa. Scoscia I'll give you. Although I think he's a dick.
  3. T-Nez? Really?
  4. Also, ERA is a terrible stat to use when judging a reliever's worth.
  5. Good call on Kotchman, guys. He'll probably make the team and bounce Kottaras out for the first series. As for Gathright and Lowrie not being eligible, ORS covers it above. I also don't think there is any chance Reddick makes the team over Gathright or Anderson. Gathright isn't a huge defensive downgrade from Anderson and his speed could be a very valuable asset.
  6. You all suck for not saying anything about my team name.
  7. I don't think he'll hit 40 but he'll hit 30 easily.
  8. 2009 Edition: THE LOCKS: PITCHERS: 1. Josh Beckett 2. Jon Lester 3. Clay Buchholz 4. Daisuke Matsuzaka 5. Ramon Ramirez 6. Billy Wagner 7. Hideki Okajima 8. Daniel Bard 9. Jonathan Papelbon 10. Takashi Saito POSITION PLAYERS: 11. Kevin Youkilis 12. Dustin Pedroia 13. Alex Gonzalez 14. Mike Lowell 15. Jason Bay 16. Jacoby Ellsbury 17. JD Drew 18. Victor Martinez BENCH: 19. David Ortiz 20. Jason Varitek 21. Rocco Baldelli "QUESTIONABLES": 22. Michael Bowden 23. Manny Delcarmen 24. Paul Byrd 25. Tim Wakefield 26. Nick Green 27. Jed Lowrie 28. George Kottaras 29. Joey Gathright 30. Brian Anderson "LONG SHOTS": 31. Hunter Jones 32. Gil Velazquez 33. Chris Woodward 34. Josh Reddick 35. Marcus McBeth 36. Jeff Bailey 37. Dusty Brown The way I see it, there are four open spots remaining. I think they are going to want to carry a 3rd catcher because they have done that the last two seasons, so I think Kottaras makes the team. MDC, in my opinion, has pitched himself off the postseason roster for now. The last guy out of the pen needs to be someone who can pitch multiple innings. I think it comes down to Byrd or Bowden, and I'll take the young kid with some upside and better stuff. Middle infield backup seems to be decided with Green's injury, I think Lowrie gets the call. As for 5th OF, I think the Sox would benefit more from Gathright's speed than Anderson's defensive prowess. In short, I think the final 4 spots go to: Kottaras Bowden Lowrie Gathright
  9. What else are we going to do living in our mother's basements? Seriously? OBP a ridiculous stat?
  10. He strikes out too much.
  11. God I f***ing hate when fans use "we" when talking about the team they work for.
  12. 2010's class is said to be decent, while 2011's is one of the worst in recent memory. Chiarelli has done a good job turning a really bad team into a pretty good team. I think a lot of things broke his way last year which ultimately led to them getting the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference. I do think that his moves since the Thomas extension have been awful. He's very lucky Krejci signed a team friendly deal, because if he didn't, he could be facing even more of a cap crunch. I think he spends far too much money on reclamation projects or mediocre, aging players (like a Kobasew, Ryder or Thomas) than invest in young talent with high upside (trading Lashoff and Kessel come to mind). Chiarelli's legacy rides on the Kessel trade and the Thomas contract, IMO. 100% agreement. There were articles linked back in June where Kessel said he wasn't looking for $5 mil, but rather something in the 4.25 mil range. He got lowballed, and Toronto ponied up a lot of cash. Bad form by Chiarelli and he will pay for it.
  13. In as Heatley's Wraparound
  14. The two losses this past week, tonight and the 3rd game against Anaheim, could have made this weekend really interesting. Oh well - time for pitch counts and lots of Kotchman/Green/Baldelli/Anderson (once they clinch of course)
  15. f*** you msu and f*** Drew Brees and f*** Matt Schaub for not showing ANYTHING last week.
  16. I think the division race is now officially over.
  17. Awful loss. Just awful.
  18. Ballgame. Cue the WEEI Idiots who say that the Sawx can't have any other defensive catcher other than Varitek.
  19. Guys, we're not winning this game.
  20. All the time Shocker
  21. They better score before the 9th, Soria will lock it down otherwise.
  22. Not even close to $140 million.
