  1. Glad to see Timlin made it. He deserved it.
  2. How can you say that there is no place for him to play? What about right field? Griffey had a much better year than Nixon last year, and you can always put Ortiz at first once a week and let Griffey DH those days. I don't think it will happen, but just speculating....
  3. I agree that I don't see Griffey in Boston, but what about him in right field in Boston? He still has defensive skills, though he has lost range, and a good hitter when healthy.
  4. At least the past few years, the Rockies have been pretty awful as well.
  5. Agreed. No way the Mets trade Pedro, especially at the beginning of the season. If for some reason the Mets really tank (which I don't think they will), then MAYBE they will look to dump some of those salaries.
  6. What were his numbers last year down in Lowell?
  7. Go Big Papi! We need a big year
  8. Guess that was why the Phils were willing to give up Polanco, huh?
  9. Not always, they can't be free agents until I believe 5 full years in the majors. Which guys like Beckett have not reached.
  10. Red, who were the 3 2B that were better than him?
  11. Hey, I understand that you meant OFFENSIVE, and I have been saying (if you can get it through your skull) that I DISAGREE that he is the BEST OFFENSIVE 2B in BASEBALL!!! That is why I gave examples of other OFFENSIVE 2B that I think are better!!!!!
  12. Hack, hack......I still don't buy that. Obviously even the Nationals think Vidro is the better 2B, since they want Soriano to change positions. Also, what about Polanco (300 career avg.), Marcus Giles, Chone Figgens??
  13. It will be sad to see if they dump all their players, I remember all the excitement when Griffey came to Cincy. If Kearns plays well, they will very quickly try to trade him while his stock is high. Sorry, I lived in Cincy as a kid, so I like the Reds.
  14. Best all-around 2B?!? Are you kidding? He can hit for power, but not average. He plays very little defense, is selfish, he can steal/has speed, doesn't walk, and can't hit when they really need him to. I remember the 2003 playoffs against the Red Sox when he couldn't get on base to save his life.
  15. How afraid are people of working for Al Davis, with Petrino/Whisenhunt/maybe Martz turning down that job?
  16. I do think they will try to get rid of Griffey, Kearns, and some of the other high priced guys. I think they will keep Dunn though, because he is still so young (and cheap right now) and the kind of player to build around. But Griffey's contract really inhibits them, so I expect them to really push to trade him.
  17. Amen my Red Sox brethern!!
  18. He is one of the most overrated players, and selfish, in the majors. For a guy that plays that poor of defense, and doesn't have a high OBP, he isn't worth that kind of money.
  19. Only one comment. How is Fenway not a lefty hitting park? True it is harder to hit home runs but many lefties have done very well there including Damon, Splendid Splinter, Papi, Varitek/Mueller (true they are switch hitters, but did well hitting left handed).
  20. First game - Reds vs. Padres (I lived in Cincy) First Sox game - Mariners I also saw a young Barry Bonds hit 2 home runs against the Reds when he was a Pirate
  21. Not that I don't wish Wallace all the best, but there is a thread on this already. http://www.talksox.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5419
  22. A few years ago they had the most people ever for a hockey game when they had the Michigan/Michigan State game at Spartan Stadium.
  23. It is a pretty funny picture, you have to admit. I think it is worth a few off-topic posts.
  24. I agree, with bullpens that have 6-7 pitchers you can afford to use a couple of them for 1-batter matchups.
  25. He might throw his arm out trying to make those throws from center at the Stadium though
