  1. It's a moot point, he'd never be available for a price I'd consider reasonable compared to Lowell's salary, production, and importance to the organization as a great veteran teammate. And the writing on the wall as far as The Fraud is concerned is how much he talked about loving NY, blahblahblah, then turns around and walks away from a buttload of guaranteed cash without even so much as speaking to them. To me he's a guy who will never be as important to a team as Mike Lowell, regardless of whatever MVP numbers he puts up. Having a guy like him will always be at the expense of giving up something else, something vital. As for the Dice comment, of course it was even more tongue-in-cheek than the actual Toledo offer itself.
  2. The names on the back of the jersey control the destiny of the name on the front of the jersey. Team success is an amalgamation of multiple factors, including both talent and personality among others. But that's easier to see when you don't have a man crush on a guy's raw stats. You're like a perpetual size queen. Rather than re-examining all the intangibles that are needed to get the job done, you just go out and hunt the next biggest piece of junk you can find. BTW, if RBI's are such team dependant dynamic, then why are they factored so heavily in an individual's stats? Maybe the NYY should have gotten the RBI title instead of The Fraud - I mean afterall, they're the one's who got on base. All he did was get lucky enough to hit after the other guys got the job done.
  3. Yeah, I'm really surprised that nobody has said they hope the greedy, selfish, transparent egoist lands on his ass.
  4. You'd have him in left field tomorrow if you could.
  5. Well, you know it's a joke. Toledo is a successful organization looking to win in the playoffs. Certainly their front office knows they stand no chance of a title if they sign him. They'd be better off trying to get Dice-K, who had more playoff RBI's than Arod, to bat cleanup for them.

  7. Except for when it really counted, the 2007 playoffs: .348 AVE 2 doubles 4 HR's 16 RBI's
  8. Papelbon was so drunk he probably lost it... ...or maybe gave it to Michael Flatley.

  11. I thought I read here that granting a player ownership rights wasn't an option according to MLB?
  12. Mets East side, West side, everybody's coming down, To meet the A-R-O-D Mets, of New York town.
  13. I thought the same thing the second I heard about the opt-out. How the hell can you not take the NY offer? Only one answer, ego - of the player, the agent, or, most likely, both.
  14. My brother-in-law was playing at Anna Liffey's in New Haven on Saturday night when a guy in attendance asked if he could sit in with them. He says he looked familar but couldn' t place him. The bass player is muttering under his breathe "yeah, everybody can sing and play guitar". Come to find out it evidently was Marc Orrell, my B-I-L was giddy at dinner last night telling me the story. They played some covers and Marc sang his ass off. I'll put up a link when they get the pics on their website.
  15. I hope Crunchy is OK and not in the E.R... or worse, passed out behind the dumpster at the club.
  16. Pathetic, transparent fraud. Aren't there enough cheap, bleach blonde strippers in the Bronx? I hope when the Mets sign him, it's for less money and it all blows up in his face.
  17. Really. Schilling lasted 2/3 longer, had three fewer walks and two more k's, and got the win while Jimenez took the loss. Clearly Schill did much more with the stuff he had to work with. I'd have called it B for Schill, C+ for Jimenez.
  18. Plus, he really looked like he just got caught sleeping out there. Youk had to wait for him to get back, he wasn't even close enough to sweep a tag on.
  19. Life is all about choices. It's great when women give you the easy ones to make.
