  1. What a fantastic game. Methinks it's going to be that kind of playoffs. Are they playing football now? All the drama is right here.
  2. Rhetorically speaking, I think the MFY's want a rematch more than we do. Alright, sans rhetoric. I want the Cleveland Guardians to beat them. I was borderline needing a liver transplant during 04' I spent all of my karma and drama. I keep telling myself it's just a game. Like a mantra. Since 1975. Just once...like an Ingram song. Just win. Ya know? Nope. It's going to be a bumpy ride. And I could care less. Right.
  3. I'm sure Jacko has that TiVoed. There will be a diatribe about the relative merits of kangaroos vs fruit of the looms. He..a Kangaroo fan will argue they never had a chance but the new marketing campaign should bring them victory. And the loom factor was subversive and yet somehow inferior all along. But, there will be a red herring kudos to the Looms amongst the subtle digs. And ya know what. We won the goddamn East. So there.
  4. Thank you. McCarver and his ilk and Morgan and his ilk will milk that "feel good" story till the cows come home. So to speak. I'm sure someone on the Red Sox or the Cubs or the Angels et al.had some kind of tragedy occur at some point in their lives and overcame it somehow. Who the hell hasn't? They can drag grandma out who was held by the Sandinistas for 3 years and yet always had her baseball card of her grandbaby w/ her which kept her going through the bullet-strewn nights. Please. I want them to lose now more than ever so I won't have to listen to this manipulation of the too easy to fool masses for the next month. The yankee ballwashing is almost incomprehensible w/ the national media. Enough really.
  5. AH..screw it. I'm just busting balls. I actually have a life.
  6. I don't pay that much attention. How's Dye been doing?
  7. Sanguine. "He was just a coward and that was the worst luck any man could have" -EH Cowards like buzzards circle a perceived dying corpse. Once in awhile they are struck down by a passing truck. I'm sure you don't have a clue what a "Red Sox fan experience" is having been on board the yankee train since way back in 96'. I'm equally sure you don't know what a true "MFY experience" is either. See above. Consulting the thesaurus comes in handy doesn't it? As far as I can tell, so far, there is only one of your ilk even worth speaking with here. Shoo.
  8. Ha! MWID. I'll admit that. Predictable. You're like a lifetime movie but w/ less obvious plot twists. I come from a less crunchy granola time when the vitriol was real w/out seething antipathy underscoring a passive aggressive pseudo fake respectful tone where no....we can't just get along. Bill Lee dislocating his shoulder on a sucker punch. I really really hate the MFY's and their fans w/ few exceptions. It's intrinsic. Period. No apologies w/ apologies to Kurt Cobain. Most here are just puppies w/ no memory...but yeah...it's personal and if you understand history you get that. It isn't the end of the world....far more important goings on out there than this microcosm. I know that. I also know I'm not about to defer to the current feel good mentality either. I yam what I yam.
  9. Another classic. A rotten classic, but another classic nonetheless. As a fan of the game above all else (as yet another remote bites the dust) ....there is no denying this amazing rivalry. And dammit Papi...that was ball 3. I'm just saying. Highs and lows and we won the division regardless. And, I have no doubt in my mind it isn't the last of the highs and lows. Crap. I could take one playoffs w/out the antacids and therapy. And booze. Please go Tigers!
  10. Did you hear it might be Ole Blood and Guts final start at Fenway? If only they would mention it.
  11. My diatribe and poor smushed remotes from last evening notwithstanding....I took some Xanax. And LOT's of ETOH. I'll be fine. Gom? Gom? whereforartthou? It's too bad our pitchers don't measure up w/ their bats. I'd give anything to be at tomorrow's Clemens massacre. Allegedly. I wouldn't want to put out that kind of mojo prior. Go Tiggers!
  12. I think I've broken the Guinness book for saying f*** and kicking things in a 20 minute span. This goddamn team. I curse my father and his father's father for bringing all this frustration and annoyance into my life. I want to be one of those people who don't care. Just for a few days. One of those...oh I don't watch sports types. The laissez-fair I don't follow baseball but I've heard of your team. Crap. No, I don't they are dull. But, maybe just for a goddamn day. So I can have some peace in this otherwise tortured life.
  13. Smooth sailing.....saltwater in my veins and more than a few misguided souls have been lost at sea w/ that kind of thinking. Watch out for the lee shore and squalls are guaranteed.
  14. Well no doubt it shows much more class from our Captain than their "captain" in the way the situations were handled. Captain..oh my Captain. Entirely different situation w/ more dynamics than Mr. Crunchy in The Combat Zone during a free .....ah nevermind. Mr. Ortiz is more clutch than the Fraud and I'll take him in October w/ or w/out The Great Dominican defender behind him. Or in front of him. Or whatever. Vastly underrated hitter because of the circumstances. Thrilled. Prove y'all wrong. I'll boo gdamn JD Drew if I damn well feel like it (generally no w/ my players) but he's horrid and while admirable on Jason's end...if the pansy can't take some critique he doesn't belong on the big stage w/ the big boys. If I'm making 70 million at my government job and they boo me....I'd take it as par for the course and discuss it w/ my 45 analysts ala AROD and then go to the bank and then just do my f***ing work. Bunch of wimps. Really.
  15. Ha! Nothing to add to this erudite observation. Except for maybe a little Goethe: "The coward only threatens when he is safe"
  16. Sorry....interns and residents historically work less than med students in America. The old time off plan. I'm mistaken. What was that again...the ICU was doing you in? Ha. You can fool these little boys. I spent 15 years in there my friend. In the trenches in Boston. We get annoyed by the posers. No one has that much time to spend dissecting minor league rosters. Even us government workers. But, you're persistent and you should some day pursue something like that. Tenacity you have.
  17. How's Indonesian mail in med school?
  18. [quote=BoSox21;288773 It's like the girlfriend who joins a football pool, picks the teams who have the prettier logos and wins it over the guys who know their stuff. Blind luck. Ah...nothing like a little sexism to prove a point. I'm reasonably certain I could (and have) kicked most "guys" asses who ostensibly "know" their stuff in just about every pool or fantasy game (right Jacksonian wherever you are?) I've entered and imagine I didn't even have to look at their pretty uniforms prior. Carry on.........
  19. I was patently wrong about Pedroia. I was one of those who thought he should be benched for Cora early in the season. There was cautious optimism w/ him because of his history, but I thought he needed more seasoning. Wrong. First to admit it and couldn't be happier. He's clearly the ROY in the AL. The same argument that goes for MVP (which by the way..the conventional arguments I do not adhere to ala: He doesn't play every day) will hold true here. These awards in any case are subjective to the collective whims of a biased media and are sound and fury signifying zilch and nada. Like the MTV music awards w/ less pomp and less circumstance.
