Yes. My mom lives in Montebello...and I'm in Charlottesville and you mentioned that you're an hour south of UVA which fits. Ever get to Sugar Hollow? My friend lives there. It's a beautiful spot for hiking/fishing/kayaking et al.

He's done. I'm in VA and 1/2 of the people I work w/ went to Tech and they are loyalists beyond the pale. Lot's of opinions..mostly...f*** him type of opinions. Other than a baby fighting ring, there aren't worse things you can do in a country of animal lovers. I'm not going to go into the whole Pit debate, because I've met a few who don't fit the stereotype, but as a breed they are more inclined to snap and snap quickly and w/out provocation and don't even start w/ the "oh...it's how they are raised" crap. A maltese is a maltese and a lab is a lab and I like my animals wimpy. And genes are genes.....which brings me back to these... subhumans who could do this to another species who breath the same as we do and for the most part just want to please and be fed and loved, and give way more back then they are given. The argument that there is some kind of skewed logic that we treat human predators who commit crimes against human victims w/ more mercy is absurd and one I hear often. If you believe that we are the superior thinking beings I suppose that's true. Dolphins have larger brains and most scientists agree that they are more emotionally intelligent. We just don't speak their language. And, most, if not all serial killers started out w/ slaughtering animals for fun and practice. It's about respect for life. Not intellectually superior life...just life. I'm also a carnivore, wear leather, and think PETA people are insane zealots. Those w/out compassion and empathy....them I fear. And Mr. Vick is done and I hope he saved his pennies. I have no temper for someone w/ remarkable talent who pissed it away w/ stupidity and arrogance. His 15 minutes...are up.

To whom and for what? Edumacate me. Who should they have traded the greatest right-handed hitter I have seen play in my lifetime for or as you so eloquently stated his ass. SP, that was beautiful (and will likely go over the heads of 99.9 percent) and for the record you never have to post the disclaimer "essay to follow" because that's a given. First beers on me, one of these days in a seedy Portuguese bar (please refrain from Big Dan's comments those old enough to recall....00000001%) I'll drag my sea captain out of the northern woods one of these days.

Linebrink & Nathan are the best names out there as far as pitchers go that we could have a reasonable shot at. Don't see a real need to go after high profile SP's w/ questionable pedigree and the Cubs kill their arms for some reason or another. Bad conditioning? Who knows. FLA runs into the same issues w/ their young guys. I'm sure Jackson could write 500 paragraphs on the subject. I just watch the game and observe. Doubt Nathan will make the move over. Minny seems to keep their players. Next year is a transition as far as the OF goes unless there is some kind of unexpected splash at the deadline and I just don't see it happening. I've been wrong before. No interest in Jones. Ichiro goes to the Dodgers. We've got Manny for another year (and if the god's were good for the rest of his career, but they ain't) The albatross in RF and his soul brother in arms. Ellsbury comes up next year. Coco, we hardly knew ya...but it's your last year for The Olde Towne Team. An aging catcher and it seems like a small issue, but in the next few years it won't be, so someone besides "Dougie is going deep tonight" is going to have to start catching some games or at least getting to the show for a cup of coffee. And, somehow it will all work out and they'll be there every April through September/Oct. until the world ends or they cancel romance. And, as for Schilling; I wouldn't count the old bird out just yet. Timlin, on the other hand, is done.

watched the longest game in College W.S. history tonight...that was fun. Kept me in the bar 4 beers longer than intended, but it was better than seeing this.

The hell? Jacko has a hard on for young pitchers in general. I'd post a link to our fantasy game, but it's too boring. But, I picked up Gallardo a few weeks ago didn't I MJ? Ha. The circle jerk to get rid of the best right-handed hitter I have seen in my lifetime is confounding to say the least. Mr. Ortiz is nothing without Manny. He knows it. I know it. Best 3-4 in modern baseball history. And the majority do not get IT. You'll miss him Rider when he's gone.

From the t.v. it seemed he got the hero's welcome he deserved. It wasn't just The Steal. The thing about Roberts that I remember from that whole season is that he took his role w/ a lot grace. Unlike a certain SS (and Jay Payton) who shall remain nameless and who people remember w/ revisionist history. He just got it. Ya get it or ya don't. Lot's of class. Of course, I needed a heart and liver transplant (emphasis on the liver transplant) after that series...but the memories are priceless. Except, of course. for the million dollar liver transplant.
