  1. Passing time while counting the rubber bands in the psych ward MJ? Well he's no Wang spectacular, but I think he'll do. He's gone. Philly makes the most sense. Don't want him gone. But, again, you're talking about the offseason while we're going to win the World f***ing Series. The Red Sox that is...winning the World Series. I'm keeping the eyes on the prize. Game after game humbly. For the time being. We'll revisit when we're drinking Ryan Garko's unused champagne.
  2. I hate to be the voice of whatever here...but it's kind of like talking about what a great meal you had once or hope for when you're supposed to be enjoying the great meal you're having now. People....we're in the World Series. This hasn't happened for me much in this life. 75' 86' 04'. Enjoy..this. Be here now. It's the whole point of all of it. Leave the speculation to the also rans until after this next big series. Keep the eyes on the prize. Spoiled you will get and it won't last.
  3. Ya. Beckett is the MVP. Unreal. I feel like I'm 12 years old right now.
  4. don't forget the fantastic untouchable Wang dang doodle. It's a psychological defensive maneuver for public consumption and right now he's probably beating his wall and small furry animals.
  5. you all can see what a defensive downgrade we have in CF to warrant the inexplicable playing of Coco Puffs. AGON anyone? I think we're winning in spite of ourselves. And a century of curses begone. Forever.
  6. Dear lord. No gloating yet fellas. Too long a Sox fan to appreciate it until it's ovah.
  7. No excuse Lugo isn't given the green to run on Westbrook on that second pitch. Straight steal. That's on Toto.
  8. He's in fake surgery...leave the poor guy alone. Anyone seen any mfy fans tonight? Crickets...crickets.
  9. I love how these people take up residence on an enemy forum, somehow claim dominion over certain threads they started, then take affront when they are challenged. Rise and hard-on also seem to be the vocabulary of the day from that contingent. I posted once on a mfy forum...after game 7 in 04' because well it was a long time a comin' (to keep w/ the theme)...one post. That was enough. Banned...immediately. Bored immediately. I actually have some great old Yankee fans who are friends of mine....they don't resort to time-worn cliches or juvenile antics. We just talk about baseball. We agree to disagree and go to our corners when the bell rings. We don't resort to asinine arguments or thinly veiled insults by the insolent and over-indulged. The pampered. Get a rise out of "us?" Alright. I wouldn't have explained my response. There is "us"...being this is a Red Sox fan forum and there is them. P.C. and dignified as it all is here and on-topic as things must be, and it would be awfully dull if there weren't opposing opinions about most things as long as there is a modicum of reasonable debate....no sense of apology or explanation needs to be offered when one of "them" tries to exert power through a tactic of excess verbosity. Or boring banality. Chaos theory. Look at the Glob forum. It's been overrun by their "fans."
  10. the world's smallest violin playing the world's saddest song
  11. His ex-girlfriend definitely rattled him. She ain't no Kate Smith apparently. A very Cleveland low rent kind of approach. I'm just happy to see the last of those damn towels.
  12. Anyway...anyone catch the Fox Algonquin Round Table where the chick says "Boston looks to repeat history by coming back from 3 games to none."
  13. No Oki please unless absolutely necessary. Holding my breath and not counting chickens, but I'm praying for rain for several days in Boston if we can get through this. Or a plague of midge to descend upon the Charles for a few days.
  14. What? He certainly molded the O's staff this year. Lot's of young kids and the rocking genius did wonders. Cough. My dad was always a huge Mazzone fan, of course my dad was a huge Braves fan since 1949 until the day he died in June so his objectivity could be questioned although he did know the game inside out. Scheurholz was the reason the Braves were so dominant. I really don't take much stock in the idea that pitching/hitting coaches make that much difference at that level other than managers are given too much blame when in-game management goes awry. It's on Guidry or whoever the pitching coach is for any particular team to make a determination when and if a guy should be taken out or brought in and when they are done and when they can keep going. The idea that Tito or Torre should take the entirety of the blame for a pitching decision in-game is only done by those who don't understand how it works. To blame them for their choice of generals is reasonable. Not to say an exceptional coach can't make profound impact on certain players. It's been proven. In practice. Just not when under fire. Papa Jack was very popular and a very poor decision to let him go. That's obvious by the on the field example. The reasons could be myriad. I'm not privy to them.
  15. Other than their obnoxious wave that flag fans, this team flew under the radar all year and competed in a really tough division. They know when and how to play their kids and their veterans, Wedge has a handle on the bullpen and they equaled our win total. If they win, they deserve it. Period. Toto does not deviate. He never has. It's our doom. He should have could have would have started Beckett and Kielty and Ellsbury. Didn't. I'm as pissed as anyone, but we have no control over the obvious. And, I'm not being paid to manage a major league baseball team or be it's GM (and thank god for that) because I would have made major gaffes over the years. Although I do admit I called the Nomar trade w/ great glee. And the Roberts acquisition. Come to think of it...back in the day I was against Bagwell and thought they should give up Cooper. Nevermind...clearly I should be the GM. And a doctor.
  16. Ha! Absolutely why I'm still watching...or in my case listening...tentatively. I'm also waiting w/ bated breath for the commentary from Kruk to be replayed endlessly like Dante's Inferno but w/ as much depth as a Harlequin romance. The one ball wonder. Lugo. Drew. This will be debated for generations. Theo and his dimple are at this moment assembling the infield for 08. I think Denny Doyle is still available. Yeah....what. I can't be cranky?
  17. ER resident..right? ....hmmm Syracuse/Boston whichever suits you at the moment and whoever will remember. Who's the chief of the E.R. at Boston Medical Center. I can quote the other place where you supposedly got your MATCH in Boston if you'd like. I know the answer. Bet you don't. Bet you 20 bucks. And, I'd win again. Right...nothing to prove to me. Anyway, life moves on and who the hell knows what can happen in a short series. I fling things, but life is much better than having to deal w/ those baboons and their equally silly "fans" in NY.
  18. I'm still waiting for the dishing.
  19. This is a Red Sox fan forum. You find comfort in our collective bosom such as it were....a wandering soul. Stranger in a strange land. There isn't anything to take.....I've been laughing at you for 4 years. Ok "doctor" what ya got? Right...you have nothing to prove to me. And yet, you continuously quote me. Ya think we're in a precarious position. Astute you are. I log off so much because I'm on a government computer. Ga head.
  20. More than that, you give your offense some hope and put someone who can offer a bit of I don't know....anything resembling life into it. Wake held his own for awhile. Ellsbury not being in the starting lineup tonight is inexcusable. This isn't Anzio. I'm sure the troops appreciate it, but it isn't a winning formula.
