pat listach was a rookie of the year 2nd basemen 15 years ago anyone remember him?? he of the 5 career homeruns and 143 career rbi?? didnt think so anyone remember the last time we had an allstar 2nd basemen outside loretta?? i go back to mike andrews,doug griffin,denny doyle,marty barrett,jody reed,luis alicea etc... i dont remember any of them making the allstar team although barrett had an awesome 86 world series loretta turns the dp hits .300 and is limited in range...someone said 4-5M per? we'd been paying 2nd basemen the league minimum for 20 years till loretta came and then blam we got an allstar pedroia?? maybe hes ROY material just like pat listash was hopefully he ends up more like loretta though

when the yankees were the best in the game they did it playing a little small ball,good defense and a solid 1-5 pitching staff as well as a lites out pen led by rivera and wettland they had some monster arms,they had guys show up in their twilight and they had some youngsters. torre was an intricate part of the running game,the hit and runs and using guys at the right place and the right time if you choose to argue that the yankees wouldve and shouldve won without him due to their talent level i would agree after 2000 but to claim he had nothing to do with their success wouldnt be fair in my opinion and believe me no one thinks less of joe torres current abilities more than i

when the yankees won their titles in the end of the 20th century they played a version of small ball they put a lot of pressure on defenses with running,occasional sacrifices and timely hits they were very aggressive on the base paths that team has long been disbanded in favor of the softball team they got now. torre maybe a players manager however after reading the ny daily news write up about the malaise in their dugout(damon trying to get the guys fired up while the randy johnson is scowling at him) i feel his time has come and gone cashman had his best year in 06 so far hes been quiet,this may be the calm before the storm

jd drew?? anyone else remember what johnny damon went to ny for last year?? 4/52 we're offering drew 4/48? the f/o is getting me a bit sketchy over their plans this i dont like and now am wondering what the f*** happened last fall that they wouldnt offer damon this kind of money. drew is the same guy that refused to play in philly when he was drafted and went to st louis instead? big gamble here the kid is perpetually hurt,never played 150games and went over 140 twice in his career hes trot nixon with a bit more power

sheffield was the yankees most dangerous hitter over the past few years the 1 guy i feared most on that roster is now in detroit. much more of a power threat than abreau and a rifle for an arm he is of course a surly ********** who is a cancer in the dugout but until they lose the tall man and mr may that lockeroom will never be a beacon of harmony. im not sure if i should be more worried that detroit got him because they are in fact the favorites going into this season after they left ny in a trail of dust in october but i am relieved we wont have to see him 19xs a year dumping wright for anything was a solid move the man sucks,never goes 5 innings and is responsible for taxing that bullpen to death i dont care who they got for him its an upgrade for everyone involved
