  1. id give the jules the chance to make the team as a starter Julian Tavarez 5-1 1-0 3-0 0-0 1-1 this is the teams record when the jules started http://www.cleveland.com/mlb/spnet.ssf?/default.asp?c=advance&page=mlb/stat/starters-aleast.htm why would spring training be more crucial than september?? we had him out there against ny who was battling for a homefield playoff spot and we had him pitch against the twins who were playing for the division there were other games with less meaning but i do believe there was a complete game tossed in the mix as well the guy is a loose cannon and has a bit of insanity that i like in a starter we lost a lot of swagger when petey left for queens we could use someone who may send the 1st 2 hitters of the game to the emergency ward if hes having a bad day of course he could suck too but its a small price to pay considering who we went to war with last year
  2. jesus christ almighty ""dont dazzle me with the facts""
  3. is it my imagination or did julian tavares become the best starter we had down the stretch?? the man was tremendous
  4. thats why i posted the box score you copied and apologized before hand he had 2 wins that series he hasnt been the same since he drilled dlew
  5. i cringe at wake in the pen he can give us 200 innings of 4.5 run baseball as a 4-5 starter he can give us all bleeding ulcers trying to hold the tying run on 1st with his knuckleball
  6. October 6, 1997 at Jacobs Field (Cleveland Guardians) 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E - - - - - - - - - - - - New York Yankees 0 0 0 0 2 1 0 0 0 3 12 0 Cleveland Guardians 0 0 3 1 0 0 0 0 X 4 7 2 PITCHERS: NYY - Pettitte, Nelson (7), Stanton (8) CLE - Wright, Jackson (6), Assenmacher (7), Mesa (8) apologies alds and it wasnt a shutout just a simple mugging
  7. why dont they just let the yankees sign all the free agent allstars at the allstar break why wait 6 months and inflate the salaries
  8. didnt jarett wright as an 18 year old throw a 1-0 shutout in yankee stadium to win the pennant in a game 7?? does it get any bigger than that
  9. our starters are better only if josh beckett can pitch like an adult instead of a little leaguer and paps continues his excellence in a starters roll
  10. couple that with sociopaths such as randy johnson and sheffield and you see why theres so much harmony and love in that lockeroom christ jason giambi was their voice of reason in the si interview rudderless?? thats on torre gutless&petty that on the gm and owner who put it together
  11. free agent pool for 2bmen?? loretta was an allstar hes a free agent i think
  12. agon is the smoothest shortstop ive yet to see play in fenway
  13. foulkes option is 7 i think his buyout was 3.5 but i agree why not give him a pop he was solid after the allstar break and we'll be eating a ton of his salary anyways of course theres also matt clement
  14. abreaus pricey he's what?? 19M per? or about what they'll be eating in arod salary when they send him to cincinatti kc or pittsburg abreau gave them a good 3 months and was the catalyst while matsui and sheff were healing but considering how well melky cabrerra played and the fact that theyve got damon and matsui already along with some other young talent im not so sure they keep abreau knowing how much they need pitching 2002,03,04,05 and now 06 the yanks had such amazing streaks of hitting futility im not so sure this group will ever win anything again as is the yanks of 96-2000 were hard not to like how can you not like bernie tito jimmy key rivera pettite ect.... they played baseball, they were a team, they played an nl style baseball and were committed to this team thing sort of like the patriots were then they got greedy
  15. quality start after quality start?? i was at the game against the yankees in august when he bb'd 9 with 9 earned runs in 4 innings i do agree he seemed to find himself after that but his season can only be described as disappointing sure he had 16 wins but an era of 11+ against ny and toronto if im not mistaken i do think hes ace material and he did stay healthy for the 1st time in his career with his lingering blister problems evidently a thing of the past.. surely a better effort can be expected next summer however..... when he was needed most he pulled a claude raines and became invisible
  16. I couldn't be more sad. I had tickets to tomorrow night's game and my kids are in their rooms crying that they're not going to anymore games this season. I don't feel sorry for the players, they didn't deserve to win. They just didn't deserve it. I feel bad for the rest of us. This postseason had so much promise. Now I feel like I was served a great meal and I took one bite and the waiter took it away from me. his kids are home crying?? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA God help me there is a certain amount of pleasure i get watching this yankee team take it in the ass
  17. glavine is 5-9 with a 3.41 era in nlds play and is old jeff weaver couldnt get me out but beat sandiego like a drum the better 9 on the field lay in ny the better bullpen lies in ny as well the best hitter in the nl is in st louis theyve got a 1/2 assed chance with theduke and petey out but i think the mets do it in 6
  18. only if i wanted the sox to deal with arods image consultants and the constant snapping of pictures from the homos at blew boy magazine
  19. 1/2 the yankee fan base are now wearing orange and blue ny hats jim a mile wide and an inch deep 0 for the century and have yet to win a world series since their payroll hit 100M in fact unless the mets win it all i think the redsox are the only team in mlb history to win a title with a payroll over 9 figures
  20. i was watching the mets dodgers friday mets up 2 i think in the 6th?? in comes darren oliver with chad bradford warming up in the bullpen.. 150M in new salaries and they got darren oliver with the ball jarrett wright got 21,000,000.00 for 3 years pavanao 40,000,000.00 for 4 years rj for 48,000,000.00 and mussina made 80,000,000.00 nothing to show for it however
  21. tuff to believe a 10yr + vet with all those gaudy #s needs to hugged hey say what you will but it was always the pitching and always will be the pitching that wins this game
  22. Jeter did go out of his way to support Jason Giambi during the steroids fallout, but he wouldn't go anywhere near the A-Rod controversy. He should have been bigger than that, since he's all about team jetsey is the 3rd best shortstop in nyc behind arod and the mets guy
  23. for 20 years torre was a sub 500 manager they bring him to ny,surround him with good pitching and some talented ball players and guess what he won they didnt lose this series cause of torre they lost because they didnt score runs in 20 straight innings and theyre pitching is old blame cashman for going to battle with 2 40sumthins in moose and rj then needing jarrett wright in to save the season blame cashman for not getting any pitchign this offseason outside farnsworth who has been on as many teams as carl everett blame steinbrenner for givin up soriano for arod so we didnt get him blame the stud lineup that had a .342 hitter batting 9th who couldnt hit kenny rogers lots of blame
  24. after reading the last 24 hours of posting and the whining thats coming with it its almost as good as winning the pennant again a great % of the mentality of being a sox fan is our inbred hatred of the yankees 32,000 feet up in the highest points of lhasa tibet there are shaolin monks chanting YANKEES SUCK YANKEES SUCK in a solemn mantra of yoga based meditation
