  1. im with ya yanks123 i see more live hoop than any other sport but last week was the 1st pro game ive seen live since 86. my good friend coaches my highschool team and i see a dozen high school games a year.maybe 4-5 bc//pc games(i saw bc/michigan state a couple weeks ago) and then i generally find the closest place to see some march madness,be it the garden or albany or worcester the problem i have with the 1st round is its a long long day and ncaa events dont sell booze....i can only take so much of unc wilmington and western ky before i need to drink hard and fast ive never seen the final 4 but i did get to see the sweet 16 up in syracuse a couple years back when maryland won it all... give me an ncaa game all day long and kobe bryant and shaquille and the ron artests of the world can go fist their blind auntie mae's ass
  2. you can assume that barry zito isnt going to nyc and that the deal to arizona is pretty much in the shitter unless the yanks want to commit an early suicide in 07. as far as the yanks building their farm goes i agree it was their modus operandi of success thruout the 90s and so long as steenberger had his hands out of the cookie jar the team and farm both fluorished unfortunetly georgie had his hands back in the jar come the late 90s thru last year and the team failed so is cashman willing to deal their lefty for prospects now that zito is in sanfran or is cashman going to hang onto the old prick and make a run for the roses i think if the yanks are serious they keep rj
  3. i dont think noah is an nba player to be honest with you despite his hair oden is raw offensively,no doubt about it so was pat ewing after 4 years at georgetown the only man alive who could hold michael jordan under 20 a game?? his coach at carolina, dean smith consider this if the balls go our way in the 97 lottery we may have had 2-3 more titles rather than 50 loss seasons under our belts rick pitino f***ed this franchise to tears and for a long time chauncey billips is on his way to a hall of fame career and we dumped him for s*** i agree to an extent with the yanks123 guy learning how to win in the 4th quarter is almost as valuable as putting together the winning rotation of 8 men almost we need a center today, tommorow and for the past 15 years we've needed 1' i like west at guard if telfair stays clean he can become a player green perkins and allen are all going places.......some day put a long armed 7' athlete in the middle who can block shots and start a running game and lastly get a power forward who can knock somebody 10 rows deep and ass rape his grandmother in the process without remorse... somebody who isnt a stand up citizen but can rebound and get to the free throw line 10 times a game and loves to play the game the nba?? i used to live and die with the celts every year but then the triangle offense came to be and the game just became too blaise for me i'd rather see a blocked shot with a nice outlet than a dunk from the free throw line this is why i like the college game much better
  4. well im at a loss too but the experts (men who generally cant find their asses with either hand) say this is the deepest draft in years theres the kid at ohio state who is considered nba ready today we need a legit big man we havent had 1 since robert parrish left town we have 10 6'6-6'8 swingmen and rebounding has been rather awful so you refused the freebees eh?? i took my dad and kids in,bought them 25.00 steaks at the stockyard and they all wanted to beat the s*** out of me before 930pm due to the misery they witnessed my dad is 65 at halftime he looks at me and says THIS IS THE LAST TIME I SEE THIS TEAM LIVE?? I SAW BILL RUSSELLS 1ST GAME I SAW COUSYS LAST GAME and now this will be my lasting image of this once fabled franchise
  5. thanks for the correction sir esteban loaiza thats the ticket by the way i love the gabe kapler thing
  6. agreed the east is just pitiful but consider philly dumped their best player, coming off a 12 game losing streak with the worst road record in the nba and they beat the s*** out of us i was there.....i couldnt believe what i witnessed denver beats us tuesday by 15 last nite, the clips, losers of 7 outta8 i think?? beat us by 23 sure paul pierce can play but whats the point?? dump him for draft picks and lose 60 games and draft well or keep him,win 30 and continue down the road of suck i love green,i think perkins is a player too telfair will probably be in jail or dead before this contract is up i like pierce too but the man has never won at any level, including at kansas where he was 1 of 7 nba players on that team that didnt even make the final 4 fish or cut bait if theyre serious about rebuilding then move pp to a team that has some value this team is f***ed to tears i could hear a guy fighting with his girlfriend across the court despite the teenagers behind me discussing their personal lives on cellphones this was in the middle of a 17-3 philly run i dont think anyone around me actually paid for their tickets there was once a time where this team was actually special
  7. hate the damn NYY, but I have to give it up to Cashman, that SOB could sell ketchup to a tomato farmer. He got three decent prospects for a player coming off of major wrist injury and is past his prime, if he gets 2-3 prospects and passes all of RJ salary to some other team I will be in awe i do kind of like cashman but hes not above criticism he traded his most feared hitter for these 3 guys none of which will help him win this season hes also the guy who traded contreras for.....javier vasquez who they dumped for.... randy johnson he also traded jeff weaver for kevin brown and soriano for arod i think hes a good baseball guy who takes his orders from someone else theres not a lot of independant thinking in the bronx front office i feel
  8. and when pierce gets back what happens they may overachieve and win 28 games this season??
  9. david wells would still have a job if he wanted 1 in baseball theres just not enuff lefties for everyone to go around
  10. the clips are desperate but i feel that artest is suicide for anyone who takes him the celtics meanwhile maybe the worst nba team ive seen since the last expansion
  11. if they move rj for anyone who isnt capable of pitching 200 innings i would consider the move stupid and would consider it a belated xmas gift for the redsox
  12. i was in fenway when he hit his 1st homer it was a 370 foot rocket that may have been going up when it hit the monster seats i was so disgusted with the team after the break that i didnt see many positives out there i wasnt optimistic i was f***ing miserable between ortiz heart, mannys legs and paples shoulder the farthest thing from my mind was what pedroia was doing so based on the last month of the season shall we name julian tavarez as our#1?? without a doubt,he was our best pitcher in september
  13. its the inconsistancy of the front office thats mind boggling of all ourpositional prospects hanley ramirez was the best of the bunch what did we do in 05?? we signed the rent a wreck to a 40M deal and after a 19M season of suck we dumped him now lets roll to today we have a legit 2nd base prospect and an allstar 2nd basemen who is aging rather than work the prospect into the scene and play the allstar we dump the allstar and annoint the prospect?? wheres the consistancy in player development that has been preached? its non existant as far as i can tell look i root for the name in the front of the shirt, not the back if the rivernator was playing 2b for us i'd want him to hit .300 and steal 40bases this forum is designed for argument and opinion we have a good 1 going here but i want to know what people saw not read about dustin pedroia that indicates hes a better fit for the 07 sox than mark loretta i saw a 2nd baseman with a 1st basemans swing and a kevin millar propensity for trying to pull the ball that indicated to me that he will struggle at the big boy level till he develops a different approach that includes going up the middle and going to right field
  14. sadler and veras were overhyped?? heres will cordero's #s from 1995 1995 23 MON NL 131 514 64 147 35 2 10 49 9 5 36 88 .286 the #23 indicates his age the year before we got him in 1996 he had his leg broken trying to turn the double play if he didnt tune up his wife with the telephone he may have spent his career in boston anyways this kid was the total package when he was brought in here look at the 1997#s 1997 25 BOS AL 140 570 82 160 26 3 18 72 1 3 31 122 .281 if duddy pedroia puts up these #s i'll be pleased y'all are demanding to play a guy who hit .190 last year, with 1 month of MLB experience to replace an allstar and you think the above guys were overhyped?? as ive said if this guy pans out to all his expectations we will have.....a mark loretta type of ballplayer and if he dont we will have the benefit and joy of watching alex cora getting 450-500abs next season i dont know why the rush, really i dont he didnt look ready for prime time last september did he?? i do want him to be successful but why not be safe in this instance rather than sorry come july?? pedroia isnt going anywhere for a while and they couldve worked him into the lineup rather than giving him the job without a battle who does he think he is?? scott cooper
  15. all star selections are still voted by the fans arent they?? they are the ultimate popularity contest,we can agree on this 1000% but where did loretta get his popularity from?? he was in the nat league most of his career wasnt he?? cano deserved to be an allstar,no doubt about it and lopez and the kid from baltimore(roberts) had decent years as well but loretta and gonzalez were arguably the best douple play combo in the league last year loretta had 180 hits 33 2b,59rbi and scored 75 runs on a team that quit for the season in august i think loretta had a great year for a 2nd basemen who can turn the double play with the best of them our middle defense last summer was the best ive ever seen here in my life and i also think we will pay the price for letting agon and loretta walk defensively for sure. now lugo and dud may indeed become the next whitaker and trammel but it will take time and in a season where we have the stars slowly coming into alignment this may be a problem that couldve been avoided sort of like giving up our 5th starter last year for what amounted to be a 5th outfielder
  16. im not whining im wondering why theyve annointed a .190 hitter as their starting 2nd basmeman when we had an allstar in that position last year and if youre not wondering why theyre doing this you have no sense at all ever hear of wilton veras?? donny sadler? will cordero?? get back to me when you have as far as what the front office thinks these days who gives a f*** 4 shortstops in 3 years while trading away the rookie of the year in the national league who plays.....shortstop an allstar 2bman whos asking price was what?? 4M per? oh no,cant pay that, thats robbery and we need to save that coin to ensure we get julio lugo at 9M per and jd drew at 14M per im not looking for joe morgan im not looking for soriano i just find it rather stupid to annoint a .190 hitter with a months experience to start the season and letting an allstar walk away for what amounts to be a tiny contract in 2007
  17. comparing matt clement who hasnt won a game since 05 to randy johnson, the man who beat our f***ing asses every time he went out there isnt proper and is out and out ridiculous ya i hope they move johnson to the national league we couldnt beat him despite his 5era andy petitte at 16M is a friggin joke he isnt an upgrade over randy johnson ny fans think because he was effective in 2003 and is a home grown player that he will be the savior i think the yanks fans are grasping at straws here in the hopes that he will be the difference in the national league central his era was 4.20 and his whip was 1.4 those #s translate into a fuking beating in the al east and if they give barry zito 120M?? please hes another guy who will get his ass handed to him in the heat of the al east
  18. i could see schilling getting murdered by a neighbor for being intrusive or perhaps getting his legs broken for playing policeman while on his ride home from church manny will be running a salsa or perhaps a soco band down in miami
  19. I totally agree. You don't build a $150 million payroll and give a starting position to an unproven kid with no contingency plan. Pedroia is not a very impressive youngster. This is not like watch Nomar break in or Jim Ricce and Fred Lynn(and Rice had to win the job from Tony C in 1975). I was more excited about Glenn Hoffman and Tim Naehring than Pedroia. It's just poor planning to not have a better contingency plan if the kid bombs. Second basemen are not very expensive. __________________ agreed under the best of scenarios we're discussing a future david eckstein maybe even a mark loretta but not alphonso soriano or joe morgan or roberto alomar
  20. mr collins had a brief albeit eventful career at lsu the 1st time i saw him was on a saturday evening lsu/auburn i think and i think he may have been kevin faulks backup... 1st down he got 6 2nd down he went 75 yards he finished the season with 5 games under his belt and 600 yards? i think mel kuiper jr had him as a #1 pick but his desire to roam into strange dwellings late at nite were his down fall from the picayune trib in nawlins He began college at LSU and compiled 596 yards in his first season there. He was twice arrested for illegally entering dwellings and was kicked off the team. He made a second attempt at college football at McNeese State University but spent time in prison due to a failed drug screen. hes due for release in 2014 and if @ when he gets out i'll bet anywhere 1000.00 that within the 1st month of his release he gets locked up again
  21. i went home for lunch and whacked up the rest of the prime rib for the wife and kids who were still sleeping or napping of xmas at noon this is the 1st xmas the kids admitted they knew theres no santa despite daddy being fat, jolly and red faced a transitional period if you will at 2yrs old all you need to do is wrap a box in paper and watch them go at 5 they become a bit more materialistic at 8 they know damn well what they want now at 10and8 the boy clued the girl in so they addressed their needs with their mother a bit more reserved than in xmas past as they knew pretty much what they were getting but i think they appreciate things a bit more now as they can put a price tag on things for the 1st time
  22. over the years the fins have traded for such standup men as chuck muncie pete johnson cecil the deisel collins and all world *******/convict/woman beater the 1 and only lawrence phillips randy moss is an upgrade in character over the above however i doubt very much that a hands on guy like saban would even consider the move funny both culpepper and moss's careers have skidded out since they parted ways
  23. hes the kind of guy who if you give him a lead hes nearly unbeatable give him 4 he'll give 3 back give him 7 he'll give up 5 the man, despite his prick like attitude and a face that only a mother could love, has been a winner his entire career. being 6'10 and ancient will destroy your back i dont know if hes 100% or ever will be again that said the alternatives in a trade just dont seem to be suitable for a team thats interested in making a run for the gold,if they were getting some serious relief help or maybe a legit 1st basemen i can see it happening cashman isnt an idiot but i dont think he calls a lot of his own shots either this shall get interesting,if rj is in nyc and doesnt want to be?? he can make manny look like a team 1st kind of guy
  24. jets played well enuff to win the fins played good enuff to lose im wondering if the dynamic duo of duante culpepper and joey harrington have seen their last glimpses of miami harrington sucks and the fins didnt move till the 3rd stringer came into the game culpepper, despite being hurt, has been called out for missing team meetings and being rather disinterested saban thinks he invented football and he can indeed coach if you think belichek has an ego issue you havent heard ole nick speak he may indeed let these 2 walk, stay with lemon and draft some line help or outside speed
  25. i would think if the yanks are sincere about winning this season they would keep rj in stripes at least thru the break in july to see if he can help hes still a better option than zito i feel and despite his obvious decline since he came to the a.l he still finds a way to stick it up the sox ass be it a 5-4 or 8-6 game his problems have been in the post season where he hasnt pitched well and the lingering questions about his back will be investigated before he gets dealt back to the low pressure malaise of west coast baseball i for 1 hope hes gone from ny and i suspect there are men like david ortiz who would help fund rj's salary if he was moved out west
