  1. I figure I'll start my first game thread of the season today Matsuzaka (15-2 2.77) vs. Burnett (16-9 4.51) ...and Win!
  2. Decent start tonight for Bowden: 6.1 IP, 6 hits, 3 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
  3. Reddick's updated line: .263/.333/.525/.858 through 80 AB Kalish off to a nice start in Lancaster: .324/.378/.529/.908 in 34 AB Also check out the Lowell trio from this recent draft: Price (1supp): 29.2 IP, 36/6 K/BB, 2.12 ERA Fife (3rd): 29.0 IP, 31/8 K/BB, 1.86 ERA Weiland (3rd): 46.0 IP, 53/9 K/BB, 1.37 ERA
  4. Reddick had a nice night going 2-3 with a double
  5. I'd imagine he's going to switch over in the offseason where is ultimately where I was hoping he'd end up.
  6. 18yr old 2nd round pick SS Derrick Gibson has been promoted to Lowell after posting a .309/.411/.394/.804 line in the GCL.
  7. I'm extremely disappointed this is the way it had to be but Clay just has nothing right now. Someone made a huge mistake switching around his mechanics. His straight overhand rotation made the change-up extremely hard to pickup and the curveball deadly also. Hopefully by pitching in AA rather than AAA he can work where he has had success and hopefully get back on track. Still far far too early to give up on him, but as for contributing this year it is.
  8. What's the market for 37 year old catchers hitting .218? Call any Boras bluff, no one is giving him 7 mil.
  9. we need Trot Nixon
  10. How about Bill Mueller and Lou Merloni
  11. Masterson as a MR: 16.0 IP, 13 hits, 2 BB, 18 K, 2.25 ERA
  12. Bowden was pretty solid tonight: 6.0 IP, 3 hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K Lars is 1-2 with a walk Reddick is 1-2 with a HR and walk
  13. Lars with another day at the ballpark, went 4-4. His line is up to:.365/.455/.647/1.103 Josh Reddick is riding a 6 game hitting streak and his AA line looks pretty decent also: .250/.316/.500/.816
  14. 8/14/2008 Update 1B Anderson (AA) - Is killing AA pitching and flashing some impressive power. Before todays game in 76 AB he has put up a line of: .329/.429/.592/1.021 with 4 HR. Today he went 2-5 with a grandslam so those numbers are even higher now. Again he is still 20 years old. SP Bowden (AAA) - Pitching pretty solidly in AAA, 27.2 IP, 31 hits, 4 BB, 20 K, 3.58 ERA. HR total is high (5 HRA) but he's holding his own as a 21 year old in AAA. OF Kalish (A+) - Just promoted to Lancaster today, limited power at this point but solid plate discipline, (in A ball) 360 AB, .281/.376/.356/.732 MR Bard (AA) - Continues to rack up big K numbers, 43.1 IP, 28 hits, 22 BB, 55 K, 2.28 ERA C Exposito (A+) - Coming on strong, probably the best catching prospect in the system. Hitting .287/.320/.515/.835 in 171 AB for Lancaster and put up basically the same line for Greenville earlier this year. SS Gibson (Rookie) - Continues to hit well, in 74 AB .311/.395/.419/.814
  15. Portland is playing this afternoon and so far Lars is 2/4 with a grand slam
  16. Completely stealing this idea from soxprospects but how would your list look? 1. Lester - Pretty unanimous, he has great poise, pounds the strike-zone and is a legit #1/#2 SP. 2. Pedroia - All-star, one of the top 2B in baseball, a consistent .800+ OPS player to begin his career 3. Buchholz - Has the ability to leap-frog both Lester and Pedroia, his stuff is too good for him to not make big strides in the future 4. Anderson - Possibly heir to Lowell (with Youk switching to third) after next year, best prospect in the system IMO. 5. Ellsbury - With his glove, if he could put up a .300/.370/.400 line (which I believe he has the potential to do) he'd be among the more valuable players in baseball 6. Masterson - As a starter or reliever he'll be a big part of the team in the future. I see a potential #3 or dominant multi-inning set-up guy 7. Lowrie - Solid bat and pretty decent glove at the SS spot. If he puts up a .750+ OPS he'd add some much needed stability to the SS spot. 8. Bowden - #8 seems really low but with the depth this is where I slot him. He's young, almost ready, and could be a #3. 9. Almanzar - Huge potential, very raw and definitely the farthest away on this list, but probably the highest ceiling among hitters 10. Bard - Disappointed a bit in his control but his mechanics look pretty solid and his arm is hard to ignore. I think he could be a solid set-up man very soon. HM - Reddick
  17. Lars is 2/3 with a double and a single so far on the night.
  18. Go to the scalper free section outside of Fenway, I've heard some success stories
  19. JD! btw no one has any way of quantizing how much impact Magadon has on the offense
  20. Bowden with a nice start today in AAA: 6.0 IP, 6 hits, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K Caleb Clay made his first appearance since he had TJ surgery: 1.0 IP, 1 hit, 0 BB, 2 K
  21. Phelps is amazing but unless you ride a vastly undersized tricycle the judges are walking up and down the pool...
  22. He threw 34 pitches, two outings is not bringing him up to where he needs to be. I'm guessing more like 4 outings at least.
  23. For all the crying about Theo not getting bullpen help, things are shaping up quite nicely. Papelbon is Papelbon, Delcarmen and Okajima are pitching well. Lopez is also and Masterson looks fantastic. Aardsma ain't half bad either.
  24. wtf is with these bloop singles
