  1. small tidbit, from a writer at BP:
  2. agon better not be hurt or we're in trouble
  3. Would anyone deal Pena to get say Zito? According to Olney the price is just Milledge from the Mets, Pena doesnt quite have Milledges value but add a prospect or two and Beane definetly considers. Couple of Pros and cons to such a move: Pros: -makes us immediate favorites to win the East, Schilling-Beckett-Zito-Lester can role with any team in the playoffs -IF he can be locked up longterm, Zito 28 and would be here for a while. this team is going to have money to spend too... Cons: -trading WMP, whole in RF (if trot isnt resigned) -Zito may test the market
  4. SOSH poster wrote this, thought it was kind of interesting: Jennings would be a nice option to go after, depends on who the other players would be. so thought id pass it along, who knows if its real or not though :dunno:
  5. Gonzalez, if he finishes the season batting .270-.280 and possibly wins a GG, its not unreasonable to think he might get a 3yr 15-18 mil contract from someone, and im not sure the Sox are willing to pay him that. I personally would much rather see them sign someone like Lugo to a 4yr 28mil deal or so because Lugo can hit leadoff and fill the #2 hole in place of Lorretta, while Gonzalez is more of a bottom of the order hitter, along with Pedroia who would hit low in the order in his first year. So if Pedroia and Gonzalez are both at the bottom of the order who hits #2? This team will have a good chunk of money available to spend, especially if the FO is serious about putting Pedroia at 2B and Pena in RF with possibly Murphy, etc. Main holes to fill then would be at SS and SP (possibly bullpen too) so with all the money id like to see the Sox invest some of that money in an upgrade at SS in Lugo.
  6. he projects well to have good power as he comes of age.
  7. I was going to wait till his OPS was over .700 but thought id give an update in. In 67 ABs in GCL hes batting .284/.364/.313. Hasnt demonstrated a lot of power but it'll come with age.
  8. Ya its way too early to tell if guys like Soto, Moss, Place (especially) will pan out. I think Ellsbury is a pretty safe bet to make the major league roster but the other guys are too raw to say for sure they will have a spot.
  9. I get what your saying but lets not fool ourselves into thinking Lugo is a small upgrade offensively from Gonzalez, because Lugo is a far superior hitter this season then Agon
  10. I picked up Verlander a while ago and never looked back
  11. if we were getting the 2005 Choi then maybe hes an option at 1B, but he doesnt even deserve to start at AAA let alone for the Boston Red Sox.
  12. I dont want to give up valuable prospects right now to get Lugo, hes going to be available in the offseason, and he wouldnt help us as much as a good SP/MR would. But in the offseason id be all for signing lugo and have Pedroia play 2B.
  13. I would be ok with this. Opens up a spot for Pena/Kapler/Murphy? to get ABs and adds a top set-up man to the pen. Allows us to move Paps to the rotation next year. Papelbon/Gordon/Timlin/Delcarmen/Hansen/1 of Tavarez/Seanez would be a solid pen. Only thing is that Gordon and Timlin are old, eventually Delcarmen and Hansen would take over I suppose though.
  14. one of them just said Rodrigo Lopez for Pedroia, Rodrigo Lopez has a 6.60 ERA.
  15. crude drawing lol: http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c65/rdsxmbnt/talksox-2.jpg
  16. how bout the logo on the banner at the top of the site. We dont need the players but the logo is cool, blow it up, put it on a red shirt. and put papelbon is so fuking intense on the back to show we mean business.
  17. nice win. We are now tied for the 2nd best record in the game with CHW
  18. i forgot about the error until you guys mentioned it lol so i dont think the majority of people did nothing because they remember the error, im guessing the average fan just didnt remember him too well, even though he played a major role down the stretch.
  19. excellent game so far for WMP, offense has come alive considering were missing some key guys in the lineup
  20. nice to see WMP back in the lineup.
  21. id rather trade Tavarez, Seanez and Tavarez both suck but Seanez contract is up after this year, Tavarez still has another year at 3mil and can garuntee another year with 125 appearances in 06 and 07 or 65 in 07. Seanez and King are both FAs after this year assuming their option is not picked up. King can provide a good lefty in hte pen at the cost of a crappy MR so im all for it.
  22. where did u here someone heard this from anyway?
  23. id like to see us go after Chris Young. Speaking of Padres, Josh Bard is kicking ass over there
  24. good outing today 5.0IP, 3H, 0R, 0ER, 1BB, 5K, 0HR
