  1. Big win by the Sox and RSR mojo continues.
  2. Alvarez is a nothing prospect....Don't know what you have been looking at but he never should have been drafted in the 2nd round by the sox. It was a waste of a pick.
  3. The lineups for Game 1 of the Sox-Mets series... Red Sox 1. Kevin Youkilis, 1B 2. Mark Loretta, 2B 3. David Ortiz, DH 4. Manny Ramirez, LF 5. Trot Nixon, RF 6. Jason Varitek, C 7. Mike Lowell, 3B 8. Coco Crisp, CF 9. Alex Gonzalez, SS -- Jon Lester, SP Mets 1. Jose Reyes, SS 2. Paul Lo Duca, C 3. Carlos Beltran, CF 4. Carlos Delgado, 1B 5. David Wright, 3B 6. Julio Franco, DH 7. Xavier Nady, RF 8. Chris Woodward, 2B 9. Lastings Milledge, LF -- Alay Soler, SP
  4. at least toby hall can't hurt the sox anymore.
  5. He has a slider too but its not refined. He will learn secondary pitches in the minors where it can be taught. Velocity can't be taught.
  6. The surging Sox have swept three consecutive series (three-game minimum) for the first time since July 15-24, 1988, when they won 11 straight under manager Joe Morgan in the memorable “Morgan Magic” run.
  7. Don't get me wrong I like the Bard pick. He throws extremly hard but getting only 2K's is surprising to me for someone who throws that hard and leads me to believe his secondary pitches are not that refined. The good thing is you can teach secondary pitches in the minors while you can't teach guys how to throw 95 plus.
  8. He's definitely worthy of going but Ozzie Guillen is the manager so he has no shot. If Francona did not pick him last year then Ozzie will certainly not pick him this year. And besides 3 relievers are pretty a given already to go. Papelbon, Ryan, Jenks(only makes it pretty much because of ozzie).
  9. I also like the trade as well. Bringing in an offensive defenseman will help this team. Boynton was a good defenseman but he always took stupid penalties at the wrong time and it cost the bruins time and time again.
  10. another foolish decision by francona to have tavarez in this game over Hansen or MDC.
  11. I blame alot on Francona for sending wake back out there when he was nearing 100 pitches, laboring all day, and had just waited awhile when the sox sent 12 men to the plate the previous inning.
  12. time and time again francona tries to sneak another inning out of wakefield when he was clearly laboring today. he will never learn will he.
  13. About time they got some runs for wake
  14. Sox making Lidle look better than he really is. 63 pitches for him after 4 innings.
  15. Wake gets through the first with Abreu stranded at 3rd
  16. dump alvarez while you can right now. Shealy is the type of player this team needs off the bench.
  17. I am in the belief the Sox will stand pat much like NY will because neither team is willing to move prospects. Right now the sox have won 8 in a row. Every team could use more starting pitching but at what cost? The market is thin and the price is high for even mediocre guys.
  18. Zero...Beane won't trade him with the A's leading and he is a big time flyball pitcher who benefits from the spacious oakland coliseum. No way would I trade anything of big time value for a 3 month rental.
  19. Oh I forgot about Chris Young as well the guy the Dbacks got in the Vasquez deal. He's a good outfield prospect as well. Ya they are loaded in the outfield with Quention, Gonzalez, Upton who will eventually play center and Chris Young.
  20. LAA (Kendrick, Wood, Aybar, Morales come to mind) LAD (Joel Guzman, Andy LaRoche) ARZ (Carlos Gonzalez, Carlos Quentin, Miquel Montero) those are the bigs name potentially they would have to give up along with mid level guys as well.
  21. The Sox don't have the chips to sweeten the pot after getting rid of 2 big ones in the Beckett deal 1 in the Crisp deal. They are thin on position prospects which is something the Marlins desperately need. Arizona, LAA, LAD all have the positional prospects to beat out Boston. Theo shouldn't even consider trading Hansen who is a big part of this future. Willis is a pipe dream.
  22. It may but the Red Sox are unlikely to propose that and that offer can be trumped by at least 3 other teams.
