  1. Dustin will be the sox starting 2B in 2007. No way the sox bring loretta back for 2 more years when he is already 34 years old and showing diminish power and gap power as well. I like Loretta but I have seen Pedroia play and he's a damn good ballplayer. The whole plan in getting Loretta was to have a 1 year stopgap until Pedroia was ready for 2007.
  2. Honestly there is no rush to even bring him up this year and waste an option year when they don't have to. He doesn't have to be on the 40 man roster until after the season so there is no reason to waste 2006 as one of his option years.
  3. He's likely to be in Portland sometime this year. Most likely after the Carolina League Allstar game.
  4. theres not much on him right now.....we have no scouting report yet on him at soxprospects.com but the only thing I know about him is he has been hitting with the wood bats for awhile and has been pretty good at it.
  5. Beckett starting to lose it in the 7th
  6. just gonna post that AG13.....I really am praying he gets traded. He's gonna be a great pitcher.
  7. Just wanted to point this out from Gammons blog. Nationals GM Jim Bowden did ask Epstein if he were interested in Tony Armas for Ellsbury and RHP Michael Bowden. The Red Sox were not interested. Jim Bowden drinking on the job again with that proposal
  8. 6-0 now as manny knocks ryan madson out of the game.
  9. wife beater chants by the fenway crowd just like they had when celtics played nets in the east finals for jason kidd
  10. 1-2-3 first for beckett....nice start
  11. they think they can get the game in tonight as they said it will start around 8
  12. I wonder if this will affect his start Saturday

  14. I believe its Wednesday against Beckett
  15. how about the fact that he had a significant thumb could be the reason for his power to diminish along with his gap power.
  16. hopefully more cheers than boos
  17. Loretta has a .729 OPS. Pedroia has the skills to top that in 2007 at a fraction of the cost.
  18. Pedroia 3 yr OPS stats in the minors 2004 Augusta 1.034 Sarasota .940 2005 .917 Portland .738 Pawtucket (took a pitch off the wrist and was affected for much of the time there) 2006 .770 Pawtucket (Strained his right shoulder in spring training and is now fully healthy as the OPS has gone up considerably.
  19. i believe loretta is making about 4 million and that is sure to go up. in my view not worth it for someone who is 34 when the red sox have a 22 yr old that can basically the same things as loretta for a fraction of the cost.
  20. Cleveland is helping to pay that garbage....and as loretta hes gonna most likely want 5 million next season and the sox would be better off putting that money towards starting pitching and having pedroia at second because he will be more than ready to play by 2007. I'm pretty sure Pedroia could match Loretta's .729 OPS or even top that given the chance next year.
  21. Mark Loretta is 34 yrs old and is a free agent after the year. Dustin Pedroia is 22 and is basically ready to step in for him. I think its safe to say that Pedroia is the heir to second base as I don't expect Loretta to be back next season when Pedroia can basically give the same production for a fraction of the cost.
