  1. i would not mind cora either. i am against giving top prospects up for the likes of lugo or gathright. tampa's demands are ridiculous and i would rather avoid dealing anything to them.
  2. he could be a stud....and i know BA has him the top yankees prospect. but remember he is only in A ball. low A ball. he still has a long way to come and who knows what will happen in the next 2 years. i thinks its way to early to be punching his ticket into the yankees rotation if you haven't even made it to double A or triple A yet.
  3. i saw him blow up in the playoffs. he was not very good after giving up some hits. in my opinion hes a number 4 starter at best. he gets alot of groundball outs but you still need to be able to strike batters out and he does not do that. before you pencil in hughes to the rotation i would like for him to get above low A ball first. he pitched the SALLY league last year so he still is awhile from even reaching the big leagues. still his shoulder issues are cause for concern.
  4. that is if hughes can stay healthy as well as wang. both have shown to be injured. hughes has a chance to be more of an ace than wang but only if he stays healthy. to me wang is more of a number 3 or 4 pitcher because he doesn't strike enough hitters out. i would say the jury is still out on him. with low strikeout numbers and the ability to get rattled at times i think he has a chance to struggle. i want to see more of him before i would annoint him as a member of the yanks rotation for a long time. guys like him come and go quickly because of there inability to strike batters out.
  5. i wouldn't say wang is a future ace. his strikeout rate is not that good. that is going to catch up with him. hes not a future ace. future aces have the ability to strike batters out something wang does not do very well. even though the yanks minor league teams have been successful does not mean they have talent. in the upper levels at trenton and columbus there are tons of filler players who have no realistic chance to make the majors. there use is to fill roster space in the minors because they don't have the talent to make the big leagues.
  6. just because an organization lost a player doesn't mean they are falling apart. players come and go all the time as well as front office personal. its the nature of the game.
  7. if rice is not in the hall of fame players like tony perez and orlando cepeda should not be in. they have practically the same numbers as rice. rice deserves to get in and in my opinion alot of writers seem to be jumping on the jim rice bandwagon this season in order to put him into the hall of fame along with the great players of HIS ERA.
  8. gathright is not worth marte at all. hes a 4th outfielder and could barely crack the drays starting lineup. the drays value him too high for no apprent reason. he has speed but he makes terrible reads on balls hit to the outfield.
  9. everyone hits in the AFL. its a hitters league. teams don't send there best pitchers to the AFL. that is why players tend to put up good offensive numbers.
  10. his numbers were pre steroids which in my view look better. he has just as good numbers as tony perez and orlando cepeda both in the hall of fame and they both played more yrs to get those numbers unlike rice. Jim rice was the most feared hitter in American League if not the entire majors for 12 years. he is hall worthy went you look at what he did before steroids were in baseball. it will make people appreciate him more.
  11. the red sox are not going to give up marte for an outfielder that can't hit. tampa bay is vastly overrating gathright. hes not that good. he couldn't even crack their starting lineup. players like gathright are not worth marte. tampa bay just keeps on coming up with ridiculous demands for their players. they should just shut up and take what they can get.
  12. soriano makes no sense for this team. he won't play the outfield and i would never part with young talent for a player 1 year from free agency and who also does not have a high obp.
  13. that yankee prospect list was a complete joke you put out. any expert or anyone from baseball america would have laughed at that list because there was nothing useful on that list that could help the big club. cano doesnt count because he is not a prospect anymore.
  14. he has already stated he won't play the outfield. i also refuse to trade top prospects for someone who plays shoddy defense at second, does not have a high obp, will make at least 10 million in arbitration in 2006 and is a free agent after the 2006 season.
  15. i have bruschi home, brady away, seau chargers home, bledsoe patriots away jersey 1996 style
  16. the mets are practically out of the manny sweepstakes unless they find other teams to get involved. they have no one to trade straight up the red sox want other than milledge. i like heilman but it sounds like either him or seo will be a dray.
  17. here is the breakdown of millwood's contract Kevin Millwood's five-year, $60 million contract with the Rangers calls for a $15 million signing bonus, payable over an extended length of time, and salaries of $6 million in 2006, $7.5 million in 2007, $8.5 million in 2008, $11 million in 2009 and $12 million in 2010.
  18. crespoblows i love your assessment of the yankee farm system because i did the same thing and yankee fans tend to ignore it. i think one fan said that sean hean was a highly touted prospect. sean henn would be lucky to crack even the red sox top 15 prospects. he is not a good prospect at all. they have cox, hughes, and duncan but thats about it. duncan needs to strikeout less, hughes needs to stay healthy and cox well you don't know about him because of his violent delivery.
  19. thats as close to equal value as the red sox would get. nothing else comes close unless the angels parted with brandon wood, howie kenrick and another prospect. we all know they won't do that. this deal with the orioles makes the most sense and the only thing that would be holding this up is money.
  20. tejada is also 4 yrs younger than manny as well and could put up great numbers hitting behind ortiz and in fenway park.
  21. i would want that too but i would doubt omar would ever do such a move. that would leave them with no one to play center for them.
  22. they are reluctant to give up any top talent unless they have an offer than blows them away. i just don't see it. teams are asking for the red sox top prospects for the likes of lugo, gathright, and reed to see if the red sox panic. im glad the sox have not traded any of their top prospects for average players to just fill a hole.
  23. the pistons are on fire right now. another win. they look to be upstoppable. i think they are better than the spurs.
  24. i completely agree. i just hope they can fill their needs without giving up lester, papelbon, or marte.
  25. alot of free agents like to sign before christmas and then everything will slow down until the new year when all remaining free agents sign with teams.
