if this is moved to november we will be able to see some of the better pitchers for the US like roy halladay and chris carpenter or even tim hudson take part instead of guys like todd jones on the team

and tom glavines fastball is real spectacular is well. he is only on his way to 300 wins. you don't need to throw hard to be successful. its all about pitch location and changing speeds. that said i don't think ryan philips will be tom glavine but i also wouldn't give up on a lefthander who is still 21.

the red sox have interest in many names but that doesn't mean they will sign any of them. i highly doubt they will bring in a washed up juan gonzalez who should just retire.

not everyone is proud to represent their country. there are many players that have backed out of this tournament and would rather focus on what is more important and that is there season. manny uses spring training to get his timing down and take as many swings as possible in the cage. most likely this is a compromise with him pulling out of the tournament in order to show up at a later date.

no apologies because he has no place to play on this roster. hes not worth the time because hes not very good anymore.

pedro had a great year that yr but his team didn't reach the playoffs and the A's did. that might have been a factor of why pedro did not win the cy young that year. -
manny has never been big about playing in these allstar type of tournaments as he pulled out of the japan tour a few years ago.

the US is a longshot to win any medal. they just are not as good as some of the teams in this tournament.

Kazakhstan and Latvia are both below the US which would qualify the US for the Medal round. doesn't mean they will win a medal but they are in the medal round. after playing russia the US will play Finland in the quarterfinals

the red sox won't carry a backup DH on the bench. they want versatility on the bench. since durazo can't play the field that good he is pretty much useless to a team like the red sox who will not waste a bench spot on a backup DH.

ya but he can hit and as long as he hits .300 with 40 homers and 130 rbi's who cares. he will be here just not on time.

where is he going to play. he can't play the field as he is a defensive liablity. he is a DH and we already have a DH. he would see no at-bats in boston.

i think it is a non issue. we always tend to blow these things way out of proportion

no one said the US was going to win the gold. there are a ton of good teams in this tournament and canada isn't even guaranteed to win the gold with all these good teams. right now the way canada is playing i would say they won't even medal like the US.

I heard it was the first cuse win over a ranked team this year. big win for them and they need a few more of those in order to build a resume for selection sunday.
