  1. absolutely not.....he is not a patriots type of player and saying T.O should be a patriots loses a ton of credibility for yourself....he is a selfish player who would never fit in here no matter what the price is. keep T.O. away from this team.
  2. they will make an offer but he is sure to receive an offer more than new england's and he will likely take it. he was a 7th round pick that made no money. now he will likely cash in on his success. i would love him back but i believe someone will overpay to sign him.
  3. might not be able to resign givens if he wants #1 receiver money. not as easy as you think. its not a guarantee that givens comes back especially if there are teams looking to give him #1 receiver money.
  4. to me it is not when the pats have 2 receivers under contract in deion branch and bethel johnson(likely to be gone). safety is a huge need because harrison might never make it back. running back is something that they can find anywhere and belichick will find it on the cheap.
  5. if the red sox could get a ton for clement they would have gotten rid of him already. no one is likely to give up top prospects for clement while assuming the remaining money he has left on his deal. if the red sox want to get rid of him they will have to eat some of the money as well as get B level prospects in return.
  6. jamal lewis is likely to get less than green because of the baggage he brings. right now the pats have other bigger needs to fill other than running back. safety, cornerback, linebacker and receiver are more pressing needs.
  7. i doubt ahman green will take less money. some team will give him a contract that will be more than the patriots are willing to give out. jamal lewis is a better bet at less money because of his character issues and his injury history. the pats still need to bring players cap numbers down before any free agents are sought after.
  8. welcome to the board
  9. he requested a trade to the west coast but it doesn't mean he is going to get one there. the red sox best interest is getting the most in return for our team not to make david wells happy. now if the nationals want clement i would be more than willing to dump him on them.
  10. how about a compromise to 9pm.....some people want 8 and others want 10.
  11. franchisng a player means that he gets the average of the top 5 player's salary at that position for 1 season with i believe no signing bonus. i believe if you franchise the same player 2 years in a row there are some ramifications the next season about using it.
  12. this coming season there is a salary cap but for the 2007-2008 season there is not.
  13. there is a cap for 2006 but as of now not 2007. the pats still have to bring players cap numbers down in order to sign other players.
  14. the only team likely to throw big money at a kicker is the cowboys and bill parcells. but it the end i believe vinateri stays with the patriots once other players contracts are renegoiated to bring their cap numbers down.
  15. the pats are going to free up some money when they dump poole, renegoiate with mcginest to bring his number down as well as a few players. what adam does not realize is maybe he makes an extra million somewhere else but what he has here is new england is a chance to win every year and besides what kicker in the NFL has the endorsements that vinateri has in Ford, Papa Gino's and Bernie and Philys' where he makes extra money.
  16. now is the time to get rid of wells and since he has a no trade clause we can deal him anywhere. the nationals brian lawrence just tore his labrum and is out until after the allstar break. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2344706
  17. i wouldn't say that yet.....now that starks is gone they will have money to give to vinateri. there is more cuts to make in order to save money for other players. tyrone poole is the next one to get axed.
  18. about time we got rid of starks.....his 5 million plus salary was definitely not going to be carried for his pathetic play last yr.
  19. tommy john surgery is much different than what schilling went through. its your arm that needs to recover not your ankle and your arm is more important than anything. Dotel is be 12 months removed from surgery I believe at the end of the May which then he will likely need some rehab start for probably 3-4 weeks to build up his arm again. there are not too guys who come back from TJS before 12 months. it used to be a 12-18 month injury. now it is 12-13 months.
  20. and theo listened to bad advice. conor jackson would have given the redsox a legit 1B prospect something that this system does not have.
  21. I think May is pushing it a bit for Dotel. He will more likely be ready in late june or early july. i would be shocked to see him back sooner.
  22. outside of francisco liriano there is no other lefthanded prospect i would want over jon lester. just think only a few years ago that jon lester was going to be part of the arod deal. but everyone forgets that had that deal gone down and when nomar would have been sent to the white sox that magglio ordonez along with brandon mccarty was coming to the red sox.
  23. moss was drafted pre theo. from what i have been told theo wanted to draft conor jackson but david murphy was pushed on him by a scout so they took him instead.
  24. pedro will and maybe millar but damon is sure to get boos and alot of them
  25. 1 stand out per draft is not going to cut it. each draft should have 3-5 players that stand out in order to make it a good draft. a team like the red sox with their financial resources should have the bests scouts in the game(which right now we do not) and that is why we are losing out on international talent. Theo's first two drafts have been mediocre as of right now. In 2003 they have only jonathan papelbon to show.(matt murton is the other standout i like and he is now a cub). 2004 brought pedroia and maybe if mike rozier shows something this year then maybe him. 2005 was obviously alot better but its very promising. In 2003 theo passed up the likes of Conor Jackson, Chad Cordero, Brandon Wood, Chad Billingsley, Daric Barton, Carlos Quentin to take david murphy with the 17th pick. lets not forget the guys like Adam Miller and Jarrod Saltalamacchia taken in the supplemental round. the point is the red sox with their financial resources should be scouting, drafting and signing 3-5 very good players that will stand out in each draft. now this past years draft was impressive with the top 5 draft picks showing success at their minor league stints.
