The sox put guys at different positions all the time in case of an emergency. Loretta is a second baseman and will not see any other position in 2006 unless someone gets hurt.
I disagree......Boras was taking Damon to free agency no matter what. With Varitek there was not a huge market out there or a team like New York to sign him. The Yankees had a hole in centerfield and he got more money than the Red Sox would have paid. Even if the Red Sox had bumped their offer to 4/44 he was probably going to go. Boras client's most always go for the most money.
Both Shawn Alexander and Ahman Green resigned with their teams today so cross both names off the Pats List even though they were both longshots to come here.
The Oakland Raiders parted ways with quarterback Kerry Collins in a move to get them below the salary cap by Sunday night's deadline. By cutting Collins, the Raiders will save $9.2 million against the salary cap once bonuses are factored into the figures.
Seanez also pitched in Petco Park which helped his numbers considerably. He not as good as his numbers suggest. Hes been a journeyman pitcher throughout his career and he really a waste of a signing since the Red Sox have better younger arms at a fraction of the cost of Seanez.
This is from TempleUSox who is a member on soxprospects.com who was at the game tonight and saw Lester pitch.
Lester's pitches just have a different bite than everyone elses. All his fastballs have nice late break and they are all low in the zone. His change and cut were much better developed than his curve. Of his 3 hits allowed, 2 were legit. His K came on a high fastball to the 8 hitter. His control was very good.
You might be the only one. Loretta is a lifetime .301 hitter while graffanino is a lifetime .268 hitter. Graffanino has never been a fulltime player and will likely not ever become one.
Its not as easy as you think getting prospects in return. With some players it all depends on how much money the Red Sox will pick up which will determine how good the prospect is.
Pennington restructures his contract ensuing he will be a Jet in 2006 but the Jets released center Kevin Mawae.

If anything we need to restock the farm system after it did take a bit of a hit this offseason. hopefully we could move clement for a prosepct or 2 depending on how much the red sox could eat of his contract.
Carlos Lee would be a great addition but in giving up clement to get him the Red Sox would also have to part with a few prospects as well and expect that Milwaukee would want prospects like Papelbon or Lester.
Southern Illinois punches its Dance Ticket beating Bradley 59-46 to win the Missouri Valley Conference. Now its just a matter of how many at large teams get in from the MVC.
some of the money might not be guaranteed so I believe the sox could cut him loose if they wanted to. still it was a questionable signing and a signing I would not have made when you have arms such as Hansen and Delcarmen ready to fill the same role at a fraction of the cost.
