there was no other way for them to make the deal because they didn't have any tradeable chips other than soriano the rangers wanted. either soriano was going to the rangers in the deal or that deal would have never happened.

the reason they got rid of him is because they upgraded in talent by getting arod. when you look at the trade it is a completely lobsided trade for one of the best players in the game. the yankees sold high on soriano and go the better end of the trade. the yanks would not mind having soriano still but when you have the chance to add an arod you do it because he is a significantly better player than soriano.

i want to see them get to 20 wins before i put them in the tournament. that is the only quality win they have all season. granted they beat duke but they have not beat anyone else. 2 more wins and yes i would probably put them in.

it will probably go to down between 45-50 and that is still a team on the bubble. it all depends on what they do with their last game and in the ACC tourney. if they go out and lose to miami and lose in the ACC tourney first round then they have no chance at going to the tournament.

bard is not the successor varitek. he was basically a throw-in to this deal.....as for a young catcher on the farm watch out for jon egan. played in the GCL last year. shows some promise. will start the season in extended spring training before going to lowell for the year. had some legal problems this past offseason and hopefully he is over them.

RPI of 66 and SOS of 123 are not favorable. they need to get to 20 wins. that means at least 1 win in the ACC tourney along with beating Miami to close out the year.

they will only trade them if they get good value in return. granted the red sox are high on both. pedroia is close enough where they likely will not trade him. ellsbury is alittle farther away but is very promising. with prospects you never can say a team will not trade them but it would be nice to hold onto these guys.

18-8 and 8-7 in ACC play. i still think without any other marque wins they need to get to 20 wins.
