    RIP Zim. I never forgave him for his stubborn spitefulness of benching Bill Lee down the stretch in 1978 as the team was physically falling apart. Yaz pleaded with him to pitch Lee against the Yankees. However, he was a member of the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers-- Brooklyn's only championsip team. Rest in Peace.

    They need to nip this in the bud at 3 losses. Four game losing streaks need to be avoided if they hope to be a playoff team. Being below .500 at this juncture is embarrassing for the defending world champs.

    Mujica took an ax to the game. He and Miller are killing us. The late inning wins and losses are the difference between the good trams and the also-rans.

    As I steam toward Barcelona, I learned that the King of Spain has abdicated. The throne is vacant as the King of TalkSox returns to Spain. Coincidence?

    It's been a blast. We are heading back to Barcelona arriving on Wednesday, and we'll be back home on Thursday.

    When I left for vacation, the Red Sox were in the midst of a 10 game losing streak and looking completely hapless. Now they are on a winning tear. What is the streak at 6 or 7? When I have checked in, I have noticed Bogaerts tearing the cover off the ball and Holt hitting like Wade Boggs. What a surprise he has been with the bat. I have noticed some wildly unorthodox lineups with A.J. Batting third on at least one occasion. Most recently, I saw that Rubby came up and mowed down batters for 7 innings in his first start, and Cecchini got called up and batted 3rd in a game. That one really made me do a double take. What was the corresponding move when he got called up? It's why I love baseball. You never know what is going to happen.

    If Holt keeps hitting, they should keep him as the utility infielder and cut Herrera who is the most useless player that we have had since Willie Harris.

    At some point we have to see what Rubby can do in the bigs. He'll get his chance.

    If Holt keeps hitting maybe they will cut Hererra when Drew is activated.

    What was the corresponding roster move. I have very little opportunity to check in on this stuff and I am having to depend onJacko for Red Sox news. The rest of you need to step up your game on keeping this place current.

    It is astounding to me that the this team is 5 games off the pace of the atrocity that was 2012 through 50 games. The Blue Jays seem to be following our path but one year later. They signed a ton of talent last year and bombed like we did in 2012. This year, their guys are performing and they have some spark and spirit like we didi in 2013. Buehrle is pitching like early 2012 Buchholz.

    Victorino is always banged up. He never seems fully healthy. He has the body of a player much older than his true age. He is critical to this team's success.

    I was just wondering if we had a 9 game losing streak in 2012. I am away on vacation with limited internet so I couldn't look it up for myself. It's just shocking to me that this team is in a losing streak longer than the 2012 team.

    9 in a row and counting. This is ugly and painful. Did we have a losing streak this long under Bobby V?

    Last year we never had a 4 game losing streak. This season we are at 8 and counting. Bad teams lose 8 in a row. Teams that win their divisions don't have those kind of losing streaks.
