  1. It's been an ugly and frustrating beginning of the season. The pitchers have looked like garbage at times and the hitters have been in a recent coma and so has the coaching staff and the onfield managing, but whether you are an optimist who thinks they are performing below expectations or a cynic who thinks it has been a s*** show, this team is pretty close to being where we hoped they would be -- around .500 and sticking with the rest of the pack. The question is whether they have what it takes to keep hanging in.
  2. XB has been very solid in the field this year. His footwork going to his left is much improved. I am no longer concerned about him handling the position. He could still improve on charging slow hit balls, but other than that, I have not seen many flaws -- regardless of what the metrics say. LOL!!
  3. One win and done for me on the game threads. This should have been an easy one for us.
  4. Not being Johnny Bench or Fisk doesn't mean that he will not be good. Bench at age 22 had 148 RBI for the Reds. He was the Mike Trout of catching.
  5. He smoked that ball pretty well. I was certain it was going to get some wall.
  6. Hanley would have played Pedey's ball into a triple.
  7. A hard hit ball ball by Betts finally finds some grass.
  8. Swihart is a nice young player, but he is not the next coming of Fisk or Bench.
  9. I hate when an umpire instigates the confrontation and then tosses the player. I remember a game when I was at Fenway on a Sunday afternoon and the Ump called Manny out on a third strike in the first inning that Manny didn't like. Manny said something on the way to the dugout, but he didn't get in the ump's face or cause a seen. He pointed to the spot of the pitch and started walking to the dugout. The ump left his position and followed Manny to instigate. With that Manny stopped walking and gave the ump a few choice words and the ump tossed him before he got the words out. I was infuriated. It was the first inning. He should have just let him walk back to the dugout. Everyone had paid their money to see then Manny - Ortiz show which was a once in a lifetime pairing of two of the games greatest hitters and the man in blue thought it was about him. f***ing jerk. A lot of the fans rode that ump for all 9 innings and he had it coming.
  10. This pitcher is a big stiff, so we should go 1-2-3. How can we beat Sonny Gray and King Felix and be schooled by this junk.
  11. Skankees lost. ARod looked at a called third strike for the last out.
  12. LOBs are getting out of hand.
  13. Manny looks like Yaz compared to Hanley.
  14. Hanley finally makes a good play on a carom and then he drops the ball on the throw. The really annoying part is that he didn't even rush to pick it up. He takes nonchalant to the level of lackadaisical.
  15. Maybe this is their stride.
  16. Game time 7:10 TEX: Phil Klein (0-0, 7.71) BOS: Joe Kelly (1-2, 5.58) Going for back to back wins. Who the heck is Phil Klein?
  17. You and I wouldn't know how to not watch them play. I have no idea what the rest of the world is doing if they aren't watching baseball.
  18. So do I. He will be lucky if the pitching is good enough over the course of the season to keep the team competitive. The hitting will warm up as the weather warms up.
  19. 13 Hits tonight. Fenway brings the bats back to life.
  20. His bat looks so slow that it looks like he is swinging a tree trunk. Maybe he should try a lighter bat.
  21. I don't think it will be an easy transition, but he really has nothing to lose. His career splits against lefties are pretty bad and 2014 was putrid. This season is looking even worse.
  22. Gametime 7:10 TEX: Gallardo (3-5, 3.94) BOS: Miley (2-4, 5.60) I am riding with "in person" mojo.
  23. 0-3 in his debut in a 13-11 loss for Greenville today.
  24. Boiled to its essence this means that the Red Sox are still responsible for Craig's entire contract. What a fleecing Ben took on this one. He gave away a good solid starting pitcher and took on the salary of a guy who is probably finished as a productive major leaguer. I don't think he grasped the meaning of being a seller at the trading deadline.
  25. LOL! Not everything is an argument. An exchange of ideas is not always a contest.
