    I will always be pissed about trading and not resigning Betts, regardless of budgets etc. He was a generational talent. In Red Sox history they have had Ruth, Ted Williams, Yaz, Rice, and Betts with similar profiles. IMO, you can’t let franchise defining players walk. Plus, he was my favorite Red Sox player since Yaz, so I don’t care about the other side of the argument.

    Removing our best pitcher in 2021 (Eovaldi) after 5 innings was shocking to me and almost cost us the game. It all worked out in the end and Eovaldi missing out on a QS helped me win a my semi-final matchup in one of my fantasy leagues. Win Win for me. LOL!

    Congratulations to MVP advancing to the Finals. I needed 4 more outs from Rich Hill for a Quality Start that would have resulted in a 5-5 tie for the week. The tie breaker in the playoffs is regular season head to head record. In our last matchup, we also tied! In our only other matchup, I won 5-4. It doesn’t get any closer than that. Three matchups including the semi finals 5-4, 5-5, 4-5. You timed your win very well. The other matchup involving iortiz is currently at 5-5, but iortiz has 2 players still active — Bryce Harper and JT Reamulto.

    This is what a 5+ERA career starting pitcher looks like. We can bemoan seeing eye hits and umpire calls, but there are also a fair amount of rocket blasts mixed in. He gives you innings, but you need to score a lot to win when he pitches.

    This Red Sox team reminds me of a story about an old Dodger team with defensive problems. After a game, Tommy Lasorda assembled the team and posed a hypothetical game-end situation and asked Pedro Guerrreo what he would be thinking in that situation. Guerrero replied that he would be thinking”Don’t hit the ball to me”. Lasorda pressed on, “what else would you think?” He replied, “Don’t hit the ball to Saxy either” LOL! That s how I watch the Red Sox games.

    Bogey played 3B when he came up in 2013. I’d move him to 3rd. Put Iggy at SS and move Devers to 2B for shits a giggles. Could it be any worse?
