  1. It looks like I will have to retire the quotes from Kimmi in my signature. She was right on both counts. And it looks like “the cliff” is a myth after all.
  2. I was following today’s game on radio and game day. The ebbs and flows were very emotional. The guys on the radio didn’t sound that dissimilar from these game threads over the final 6 games of the season. The team bent but didn’t break and came through on the final weekend in an NL park. They achieved more than I thought they would. I had them pegged for a 4th place team. They were tied for 2nd place but only 1 game better than the 4th place team. So, I wasn’t too far off on that prediction, but I was really off on the win total and the competitiveness. I didn’t think this was a 90 win team when they broke camp. Most of all, I didn’t think they had much of a shot to pull themselves out of the post trading deadline death spiral. My thought was that Erod would have to turn around his season to stop the spiral, but he didn’t do much of a turnaround and they still didn’t collapse. They showed a lot of fortitude. Overall, it was a ton of fun.
  3. A wild scenario if there is a 3 way or 4 way tie.
  4. The Mariners pulled ahead in the 8th. If they win, there is a chance of a 4 way tie. WTH happens in a 4 way tie?
  5. A loss will eliminate the Mariners. if the Red Sox win, they have the tie-breaker over the Yankees regardless of what the Yankee do. If the Yankees win and the Red Sox lose, the Red Sox play at Yankee stadium unless Toronto wins tomorrow which would result in a 1 game playoff for the second wild card. Do I have this right?
  6. Red Sox radio announcers were in disbelief from 5 th or 6th inning. The players look very defeated.
  7. I sent prize money to MVP and iortiz. Please confirm your receipt. Thanks.
  8. Congratulations MVP! Good job managing. You are a multiple time champion. I will disburse the winning share in a couple of days when I get back to MA.
  9. It hasn’t just been the Red Sox. The same can be said of the Yankees. I also watch a lot of the Mets and Phillies and they have played the same terrible quality of ball. It has not been just a few instances. It has been throughout the season. It has been endemic. Neither the Yankees, the Red Sox nor most other teams have played like playoff teams. It has been a very strange season in that regard. It’s almost like the COVID shortened season cause a collective amnesia about the correct way to play the game.
  10. Never taunt the baseball gods.
  11. This game was a fiasco. I listened to John Sterling’s and Suzynn Waldman’s radio call. Everyone calls them Homers, but they brutalized Boone’s managing when he removed a dominating Holmes who k’d the side and has 30k’s and 1 walk as a Yankee. Boone got played like a fiddle by Cora and the Yankee announcers skewered him. And they roasted him for giving up an out by running Wade when Richards couldn’t throw a strike. They also called the 2 dropped popups “disgraceful “ and said that the Yankees didn’t deserve to win the game. They thought Dalbec should have caught the foul ball and they called the foul tip a strike out and said that the ball fell on the transfer. They get a bum rap as homers. They brutalized the Yankee D and managing tonight. Unfortunately, our guys didn’t want to accept the charity and gave the game back.
  12. LOL! @ saying someone has a horseface is racist. People need to get a grip. Paging Mr. John “Horseface” Lackey. I miss that guy. Give him the ball in a clinching game and you clinched.
  13. I thought Clint Eastwood’s William Muney said “Deserves has nothing to do with it.”
  14. Cora had better pick up a new steel garbage can on the way to the ballpark tomorrow.
  15. What is the confidence level in ERod tomorrow?
  16. He needs a shock collar.
  17. Dalbec did wreck a couple of pitches today— one went out of the park and one was caught before it went over the fence.
  18. Cora had the lead with 4 outs to go. The best option was not Darwinzon.
  19. It’s the biggest game of the season to date. The closer should have been in for a 4 out save. He shouldn’t have gone to a strike challenged bullpen guy. They will be watching the playoffs from their couches.
  20. Who pitches the 8th and 9th?
  21. That inning started about as badly as it could have started, but it ended very well.
  22. 3-0 pitch was a full ball width off the outside edge of the plate.
  23. It should be first and second with Dalbec up against the soft throwing lefty.
  24. It wasn’t 5+ ERA Pivetta on the bump today. He came up big when needed.
  25. Pig on the mound. Warning. Pig on the mound.
