    We did win last night's game so Bay makes tonight's thread. The game thread was ignored because the big news of the night -- the FO shakeup was discussed in other threads.

    In almost 50 years of rooting for the Red Sox, I can't remember a GM being fired during the season, and they had a coup d'etat in the early 80's. This speaks volumes to what a horrible job Ben has been doing that they needed to make this change immediately.

    Dubront for the A's tonight going against Kershaw for the Dodgers. A's are up 1-0 in the 5 the inning. What do you think are the chances that that score will hold up? Lol!

    Overall, my feelings about changes in the FO can be summed up in one word, "Next!" It is Dombrowski's job to lose. Ben blew himself up with a series of stupid moves. He left ownership with no choice but to fire him. I can't see the next FO team as being any worse. Dombrowski is a wheeler dealer so it should be an interesting off season. He does not sit on his hands.

    When I heard that the announcers had big news, I thought maybe they unloaded Porcello or made a similar big trade. I really didn't think they would make this decision in season. Maybe JH read the remarks about no plans to move Hanley's position before the end of the season, and just couldn't believe how dense he was being.

    No, I am not making that leap yet. I think he needs to play the last six weeks to see if this was just a good week. I am hoping that he can demonstrate some proficiency with the bat. He was hitting very well at AAA, but he has to prove himself at this level. He can get almost 200 ABs before the season is done. He might be able to resurrect his career. Yes, it is wishful thinking on my part, but he has looked much different this week than at any point last season.

    If they want to dump his sorry ass, the FO will make sure that the story will get out there even they refuse to confirm it. That is just the way Red Sox management rolls.

    I may be calling him Dumbass Dombrowski in the future but Ben had to go. He earned it. I wonder if a new GM will be named too.

    Dombrowski will be President of Baseball Operations. Cherington declined to stay on as General Manager but will stay on to assist in the transition.

    It had to be done. Now, we have a true professional in charge.

    If we want to keep him, he probably needs to hit .250 or .260, but with Betts and Castillo and Hanley, there is no room for Bradley. If we want him to bring back a top pitcher on a trade, we need him to rake for the rest of 2015. The fielding will not be enough. Top pitchers don't get traded for good glove men.

    He had better keep tearing the cover off the ball if he is going to be a big part of any package to bring back a starting pitcher.
