  1. I can't be wrong, because I was being sarcastic and not taking the position that baseball is deterministic at all.
  2. Baseball is only random when things don't come out the way the numbers dictate.
  3. Yep true, but so many take the numbers as guarantees for all sorts of outcomes.
  4. We should have gotten Kelly merely for taking on Craig's contract. Throwing in 1 year and 2 month of Lackey was an extreme overpay.
  5. And Kelly has been a bust on balance.
  6. LOL!! What a plan!
  7. And game 1 was also riveting.
  8. The last 2 games were riveting.
  9. The best outcome for Kelly would be 1 season as a set up man-- still not a good deal.
  10. Pedro did not pitch into the 8th inning of that game.
  11. And had just walked the leadoff hitter, and he has had a lot of trouble pitching with runners on base. He was not the best option and it was the 6th inning of an elimination game. Bad move and it turned out to be fatal.
  12. The Red Sox are on the hook for this and it is a total loss. A terrible move by Cherries.
  13. I would be thrilled if they could keep Betts and Bogaerts, but they will be very expensive. Still Pedroia would be gone as would Hanley. IMO, Pedroia wil be very difficult to replace. When I first saw him, I was completely unimpressed, but I really think that he has been the spark for the red Sox for many years. I realize that you might disagree with this.
  14. Some people don't understand that. They ooh and ahh over the farm system, but by the time Groome and others get here Bogaerts, Betts and Bradley will be ready to walk. Pedroia will be gone. Hanley will be gone. And we will be coming up short even if the prospects pan out.
  15. Theo and Maddon looked like they were s***ing themselves in the 8th inning. Fortunately, their team was cool and collected. And they were thrilled when Moore was lifted from the game.
  16. Our hot streak was white hot and it locked down the Division, but when it ended it ended with a thud and the manager was not good enough to nurse them along until they got hot again. He could have helped manage them to HFA, but he had no sense of urgency about that. We lost the first 3 games on the road and game one was a nail biter. Also, in game 3, he had no urgency in the elimination game. He left Pom Pom who has be So-So on the mound in the 6th inning after the leadoff walk. That is the time to empty the pen. Ziegler, one of our best relievers went unused in game 3.
  17. I would put that in front of him and hand him the pen.
  18. So did Maddon. He was very concerned about Cueto, because their bigger hitters have terrible numbers against him. Theo is definitely born under a lucky star to get out of there with a victory in game 4
  19. Or maybe that is all that he expects from a manager, because it is a very shallow pool.
  20. Bochy should have stuck with Matt Moore in the 9th who had been dominant. A rare bad move by Bochy. Another bad move by Bochy was taking out Romo who would have faced Coughlin. Instead he went for the lefty to face Contreras. Very bad move by Bochy taking out Moore.
  21. Cubs tie up the game. it could be another long night.
  22. Cubs fighting back in the 9th and the Giants pen is garbage. Cubs with men on second and third and no one out. Giants up 5-3.
  23. They showed Theo in the stands while Moore was shutting down his Cubs. The genius was oozing from his pores.
  24. Giants - Cubs game is over 5 hours old and they are going to the bottom of the 13th inning.
