  1. We didn't get the HFA so people want to convince themselves that it doesn't matter. It does matter.
  2. It is beneficial, not decisive.
  3. Lay off Farrell. I like him. Right now, he is my favorite stupid manager.
  4. Beckett brought us a Championship and almost a second World Series appearance in 2008, so the Red Sox achieved their objective with that trade. If a trade helps you achieve your objective, you can't be the loser in the trade. You achieved your objective.
  5. Yep, and that downward spiral can happen quickly.
  6. That is not accurate. We had no other good option for his rotation spot. He made 13 starts for us, and the team won 6 of those games. He helped hold serve in that 5th spot.
  7. LOL!! And your daughter can't sleep on your arm on the road landing you on the DL.
  8. Buck blew it. He needed to go to his best with elimination staring him in the face at 3B with no one out. Ubaldo blows and Cy Young was available. This just reinforces my generally low opinion of the intelligence of major league managers.
  9. O's would be easier for us to beat. Jays starting pitching is much better than O's. I'd rather play the O's.
  10. He is a doofus but I like him.
  11. I have always liked Farrell.
  12. What the Red Sox were doing in the DR was widespread, corrupt, and possibly criminal. It doesn't equate to what SD did.
  13. Hanley is not a dwarf, but he gets to stay in my lineup.
  14. The lineup is Big Papi and 7 dwarfs.
  15. Adam, a check for your winnings will be mailed tomorrow morning. I would suggest using the winnings to take your new crush to dinner, but since she is a Yankee fan, save it for something else.
  16. At the end of Pomeranz' current contract.
  17. Start the game thread for the playoffs!
  18. Post season baseball is back in Boston!! I am a little concerned that Ortiz is emotionally spent after this weekend. For the first time, he expressed that he was exhausted from the farewell. It happened to Yaz in 1983. Emotions and performance on the baseball field don't mix well. Hopefully, David can regenerate and tuck away his emotions for a few more weeks.
  19. Do I need to get one of those blah blah blah gizmos? This horse is dead
  20. You haven't convinced me or changed the stats that indicate otherwise.
  21. The bigger issue is that DD must not have a very high opinion of Espinoza if he declined to get him back. I trust his judgment in these matters,
  22. Congratulations to Thunder! The competition was not easy.
  23. I couldn't post during the game. It was just a very emotional day, and the realization that I will never see Ortiz at Fenway again in the regular season is hitting me. He has been such a special player who has provided so many thrills. I was at Yaz Day in 1983, and Yaz was my boyhoodidol, but with cable TV and MLB TV, I have watched more of Ortiz's ABs than probably any other player. For me, it it difficult to envision baseball without him. Thank you, David "Big Papi" Ortiz! You will be missed.
  24. Espinoza must really stink.
  25. Wrong. If we don't get the HFA, we will be at a historical statistical disadvantage. You want to start playing the game, "uh we don't have HFA, but we are still the better team" schtick. Good for you. What are the stats? They are that the team without HFA wins 45% of the time. Not having the HFA is not a death sentence, but the team with HFA wins 55% of the time. Those are just the stats.
