    I don't see the obsession to defend his attitude. I don't attack or care about his attitude. That is all that I am saying. I don't really care to assign blame, but I don't sit by and listen to lame excuses for problems. Pablo's problem is in his mirror.

    I don't care if it is classified as a disease by the Shrink community. He should get full blame, just as he should if he was addicted to an opioid or if he was an alcoholic.

    I don't give a hoot about Pablo's attitude, but I will not accept that there is nothing that he can do about his weight. Eating himself out of baseball is on him, and it is something that was completely within his control. This isn't an injured knee or arm or other body part. This isn't a product of wear and tear from aging. He eats too much and got too fat to the point where he couldn't perform on the baseball field. Whether or not he feels bad about it means nothing to me. The fault lies with him. Period. The fates haven't intervened to give him a bad break. He gets full blame.

    Cain is through. He is not worth the investment of time and a roster spot. Go in a different direction. I'd rather give away Pablo.

    He is one of a long line of pitching prospects that got everyone excited and then flopped.

    All the writers that voted for Joe Gordon over Ted Williams are dead. There was an outcry then about the disparity in statistics, and generations of sportswriters have come and gone and it is still a popularity contest. The intangible that is at play is not what most people think it is. The X factor is not about being a leader or a winner. It is about giving the writers access and be accommodating. If a guy is good copy and accessible, he will have the advantage. It is human nature, and it is a popularity contest by the people whose job it is to cover the players. That will never change.

    Maybe so. We can hope, but writers are usually not good with numbers and they are always looking for a story angle.

    It has always been a popularity contest. Advanced statistics will not make a difference. Statistics have been disregarded since the forever.

    i enjoy watching all baseball, but I hate the WBC because it takes many of the best players away from Spring Training.

    There are enough post season awards. We don't need any additional ones. They are all BS popularity contests.

    I don't ever want a Red Sox pitcher participating in that useless pointless tournament. It ruined Dice K's career. I am convinced of that. He ramped up too quickly and through a lot of high octane innnings in March permanently damaging his shoulder. Thereafter he was a request visitor of the FL. I remember Carlos Zambrano ruining his career at the WBC too. Stay home Rick and polish that Cy Young award instead of pitching in a pointless exhibition.

    Plus Rusney is older. There is less of a chance that he can develop.

    What a bust he turned out to be. He is also an example of the risk of giving a long term contract to a guy with no MLB experience

    I am not losing any sleep over losing the #26 selection. We wiffed on Trey Ball who was selected much higher.

    By 1950, there essentially was no Negro League. It was a barnstorming group and no longer a viable league. There was a lot of African American talent in the big leagues by the mid to late 1950's. There was a lot more talent available to GM's after baseball integrated. There is no way that more available talent makes a GMs job more difficult which was your original point.
