  1. The bullpen will be what makes or breaks this team. The offense is solid and the starting pitching is solid (and could be spectacular if Price returns).
  2. The bats will heat up as the weather heats up. The lineup is pretty deep, even though we don't have the big centerpiece anymore. I am hoping that XB will take his power game to the next level. That would make the lineup very formidable.
  3. You are really far afield now. What any of this has to do with the "dirt dog" "grit" factors beyond me. Let me correct you again, because you read your own thoughts into my posts. I am not anti-stat nor anti-stathead. I am just acknowledging that factors like "grit" set some stat-heads off on rants. Kimmi is on record stating that she acknowledges the factor. Other stat-heads are bothered by the term "grit". That is not an anti-stat-head statement -- just an observation. You state that I obfuscated in the "clutch" discussion. Why, because i didn't say what you thought I would say? That is just a function of the filter through which you read my posts. I have been very clear and consistent about my position on the issue, and it is a bit pointless to keep arguing about it since clutch cannot be proven statistically to the satisfaction of stat-heads, nor can the stat-heads definitively disprove the characteristic.
  4. Will Big papi start taking some BP and stage a return at the ASB?
  5. I still don't get your point, and your term "anti-stat" not only doesn't apply to a "crowd", it doesn't describe anyone.
  6. Maybe you didn't see his game 4 performance of the 1975 World Series. Lots of terms like grit and guts were used. He was also known as a crafty pitcher when he reinvented himself with the Red Sox.
  7. You have convinced me that you have good taste.
  8. There is a new thread everyday -- a Game Thread. Come join the conversation.
  9. Not to mention our superior intellects and winning personalities.
  10. They won the Division last year.
  11. No one ever called Luis Tiant athletic.
  12. A bit narcissistic.
  13. Do you have a stat for that?
  14. It is not all about you, Kimmi.
  15. That doesn't even remotely respond to my post or the "Grit" or "Dirt Dog" factor. I am not even sure what point you are making.
  16. The US will build the wall. Mexico will pay for it.
  17. Showalter has been a d-bag consistently.
  18. He is a horror show in the field.
  19. Yes, and I think CP was referring to toughness over the course of the season, not a post season series.
  20. Oh Boy! You have raised the dreaded "grit" "dirtdog" issue. The statheads with soft hands and big butts don't acknowledge those factors.
  21. He won't be coming down for breakfast.
  22. He hung himself in his prison cell. http://boston.cbslocal.com/2017/04/19/aaron-hernandez-suicide-prison-hanging-souza-baranowski-correctional-center-shirley-new-england-patriots/
  23. "Look, the runner really has the pitcher rattled. " "No, that is statistically improbable. I will send you a link to prove to you that your eyes are lying to you."
  24. His performance in the second half last year fell way off, indicating that over usage might have been an issue.
