  1. I didn't say that I gave him a pass. I said "if we can give him a pass". I don't give any GM a pass on any deal he signs off on. Only one GM that I know had the stones to say that he opposed a deal. Brian Cashman publicly opposed a signing -- for Chapman I think.
  2. I was just concerned that I was committing soft racism in the opposite direction -- by calling a white guy a dope was I just assuming that it went unsaid about blacks? That is certainly not what I intended. If it was taken that way, I apologize. Oh, the insidiousness of unconscious bias, or is it subconscious bias? When you are unconscious you are asleep. Bias while sleeping probably can't offend anyone or cause damage to society. It must be subconscious bias...right?
  3. Hinch is a dope. I hope that isn't racist.
  4. He gets credit and blame.
  5. These baseballs are made in Costa Rica.
  6. And risk losing the contract and probably their entire business? I don't think so.
  7. We don't. He was the GM and these deals were all his responsibility, so it all sits with him.
  8. If we can give him a pass on certain deals, we can pin certain deals on him.
  9. The baseball establishment would never admit to anything and there have been years where the balls have been juiced -- this being one of those years. Who would leak it? Who would know it? The baseball code of silence is akin to omerta -- their finances are till largely unknown.
  10. My hatred for the Dodgers has nothing to do with how they build their team or spend money. As far as hating the players, hate is not rational. I hate anything in pinstripes too.
  11. His latte's are to die for. LOL!!
  12. And the last piece was Verlander -- a move that Ben never would have made.
  13. Gabe Kapler has been named manager of the Phillies. Poor guy. Philadelphia sucks = the team, the city and their fans.
  14. People were okay with unprecedented last place finishes by a Red Sox team as long as they were convinced that he was building toward the future. Ben was just awful. To paraphrase Bob Gibson, the only thing Ben knows about pitching is that he can't hit it. The future never would have come under Ben as he could dismantle pitching staffs, but he couldn't build a staff. You can't win without good pitching. Houston was built from the ground up, but they were bold in adding the final touch in acquiring Verlander at the trading deadline. Ben never would have made that type of move.
  15. Roberts is a very positive person.
  16. The deeper the knife goes into the heart of the Dodgers the better I feel. I relish watching that knife twist. I hope their players cry. I do feel bad for for Dave Roberts. I like him a lot, and he holds a special place in my heart.
  17. And this one was all Ben, not LL.
  18. McCann has come up big for the Astros in the post season, i.e. Clutch. Sanchez s*** the bed for the Yankees, especially behind the plate.
  19. Coach was sending the runner, but Taylor couldn't hear him.
  20. That ball was hit pretty deep. Reddick didn't have a chance to get his momentum going forward. I would have sent the runner on Third.
  21. Springer gave up a run and then he got it back on one big swing.
  22. Very poor decision by the UConn Flash.
  23. Altuve was so determined in that AB. He blasted. A foul ball deep into the LF stands and he kept swinging from the heels knowing that Maeda had nothing to get him out. He is some player.
  24. Ask Big Papi and get back to me.
  25. Clayton Chokeshaw
