  1. It's amazing that we sign one of the top talented starting pitchers in the game and fans want him to win the Cy Young so that he can opt out of his contract. Insanity. Then we can replace him with an inferior pitcher for more money.
  2. And no one on this board, not even bosoxmal, can remember back to back first place finishes. It is so ridiculous that people are calling for the head of a GM who has had two first place finishes in his first two seasons, especially while singing the praises of a guy that put us through 3 brutal last place finishes in 4 years. It is beyond stupid, bordering on mental illness.
  3. Some people just love finishing in last place.
  4. Excellent point. And Red Sox fans will remain loyal until their dying breaths.
  5. You make my point for me. They still have millions of fans, fill Fenway and made tons of money. They were no worse for the wear. In the end, we have no choice but to not go to the game, and Red Sox fans are diehard fans. So to say that a rebuild would not be tolerated for the Red Sox is bogus.
  6. I also didn't view it as a trade. I remember people being enthusiastic about the prospects that we got in return. I was fairly certain that the guys we got in the trade were busted prospects who would never amount to anything. The Dodgers included just enough that the Commissioner would approve the deal. It was a salary dump -- pure and simple.
  7. We already finished last in 3 years in 4 seasons, so finishing last has been tolerated. Unfortunately, our FO did it the wrong way. They did this while still managing to spend $200 million on annual payroll and doling out a number of budget choking long term deals. If you are sending out last place teams, payroll should be preserved.
  8. I am not sure what this is all about.
  9. Move Devers to first base.
  10. They need to open up a full time position for Baez.
  11. I will wet myself if we trade Benintendi for Bryant and then we sign JD Martinez.
  12. We have been successful at this?
  13. I don't think Hill was worried about being insulted. He had just been pitching on Long Island in the Independent League when we signed him. It was about money. He is in his upper 30's with a history of injuries. He needed to capitalize on his remaining time. He would have taken a major league deal anywhere.
  14. and not a single pitcher
  15. Girardi has been whining about not getting the opportunity to finish the job. Guys like him never factor in that the douche factor shortens their shelf life.
  16. It would depend on what Theo thinks about Benintendi's potential.
  17. Rooting for a meteor to hit the field.
  18. Cubs interested in Benintendi. I'd take Bryant. http://bostonsportsextra.com/boston-red-sox/2017/10/cubs-interested-benintendi
  19. Right. I knew it was a reliever.
  20. I think they offered him a minor league deal, because they couldn't guarantee that he would make the big team. I don't remember the financial details of the offer.
  21. The worst World Series for me would have been Yankees - Dodgers. I probably hate the Dodgers worse than the Yankees because they left my community, but I have to live among Yankee fans so I would prefer if the Dodgers would beat the Yankees. It would just be an awful way to end the season.
  22. He has used several different avatars of this type, and the women are always white. Unconscious bias ... I wonder? I will not be silenced in pointing out this soft racism in this practice of blatant misogyny.
  23. Good point if he can't see what he is typing, how can he read my posts?
  24. 3 last place finishes. Let's not sell Ben short.
  25. I can understand the admiration of Theo as has been highly successful for an extended period for 2 franchises, but no one is offering Ben a GM job and I don't expect that he will get a GM job anytime soon.
