  1. The statheads already apply the standard to everyone else, so holding myself to the standard would be wholly unnecessary and redundant. You have a nice night.
  2. I will for the statheads who think their opinions have a higher level of reliability.
  3. I was at a season ticket holder event where President Sam Kennedy stated that the Red Sox would be interested in Harper.
  4. It wasn't lighthearted. It was childish, and Spud was completely correct in characterizing Kimmi's assertion as baseless speculation.
  5. That would be crazy if a 104 win team was a Wild Card team, but I don't see that happening.
  6. Not at all. I am just applying the standards of the statheads to the statheads whose behavior has been quite infantile in this instance. A poster points out out that an assertion is mere opinion and speculation. That seems fair enough to me. He is met with derision by 3 or 4 posters who tell him that he would discard the stats. Pretty childish. Don't ya think?
  7. There were no stats for the assertion. It was pure worthless opinion by Kimmi. That was Spud’s point.
  8. This is one of the reasons to avoid picking up Adrian Beltre.
  9. Vasquez is our primary catcher and his performance is way down (OPS .735 vs .548). Bradley is down significantly down (.725 vs .642). From season to season, some guys do better and others do worse. Devers is down .819 vs .715. Nunez is down .892 to .644. These are significant and they are matched by and exceeded by the increased performance of Betts, Benny and Bogey. The big difference maker is dropping a 1.037 guy into the lineup that hadn’t been there in 2017.
  10. Basically, it is just your opinion.
  11. I think you haven’t been following very closely. The other players are actively seeking and getting JD’s mentorship and they are mimicking and copy his approach to preparation. This has been discussed in numerous outlets.
  12. Is there a fangraph for that?
  13. LOL! We have alerted DD. He should lock the tires on Shields. At the prorated portion of a $5 million salary, it is very doable.
  14. Okay, I think it was a very poor decision regardless if the outcome of the game. The ASB was right around the corner. I didn’t see the danger of burning out the pen, especially when playing at home and they could send a cab to Pawtucket for a fresh arm for the weekend.
  15. We should be so lucky.
  16. They did win the game, but under your own logic, that doesn’t mean that it was the right decision. You are being being inconsistent if you are taking the position that a bad outcome doesn’t indicate a bad decision but a good outcome correlates with a good decision. i think our boys bailed out Cora’s very poor pitching decisions in that game.
  17. I thought the question in the thread was the reason for the improvement in the team this year over last year. That I believe is JD.
  18. I would want to put the kid in a position where he has a chance of to succeed. I don’t think it will help his development to keep running him out there to crash and burn.
  19. Small sample size?
  20. As of yesterday, Cora said that Pom still had not regained his velocity, and noted that he still had work to do.
  21. Catching lightning in a bottle is very rare which is why they call it “lightening on a bottle.”
  22. I am not saying that he is the silver bullet, but he is performing very well this year. He has always had a problem with the HR ball, but not this year. I think DD should kick the tires on him. If he can continue to avoid the HR ball, he could be very useful in the 5 spot.
  23. It is the final verdict. Even Kimmi admits that it was a bad decision although she makes excuses for it. No one disagrees that it was a bad decision. Hence, it is the final verdict. BTW, the lawyers write the judge’s opinions. The judge attaches his/her name.
