  1. Which color Gatorade goes best with the yellow dress?
  2. if I have to go to 5?years, I might make a move for Jansen. If you have the top payroll, you should have a top tier closer. I think there is a stability factor that too closers bring to a team that you need to be successful.
  3. Where do I send my application?
  4. In any market where Kimbrel makes only 30% more than what Morrow makes, I would say that Kimbrel is a bargain.
  5. It’s good work if you can get it.
  6. Poppycock! It was all regression for Mookie. The elevation of his game would have happened anyway. Sarcasm
  7. Didnt the Braves also get Matt Wisler in that deal, who had been a big time Starting Pitching prospect and is still in the Braves plans?
  8. Joe Maddon almost screwed up that parade. The post season is a roll of the dice... no?
  9. But it doesn’t hurt if you want to have a team that wins consistently. I notice that you didn’t address whether You would be pissed if DD has done what Theo did to get Chapman. It is really disingenuous to list Rondon as the Cubs closer.
  10. Here’s where I am at. The umpires who are highly trained and subject to league review on every pitch and play can be very imprecise. We see their mistakes every night. It would be hard for me to believe that UZR and statcast peeps are even close to being as highly trained and reviewed as umpires, but I am supposed to trust their judgment about players on the Red Sox. They are supposed to have a guaranteed lower rate of error than I have. Whoever these people are, they can’t watch the Red Sox for more than 162 games excluding the post season. That is the same number of games that I watch (maybe I miss 2 or 3 tops), but I am supposed to trust their data input.
  11. If DD had paid the haul that Theo did for 2 months of Chapman, the long knives would be out for him. Maybe he should swap Kimbo for Giles to save a few bucks.
  12. And you are insulting him because you can’t even keep straight who has posted what, you tool. It is funny how you show up to throw in your very lame and usually wrong 2 cents when Kimmi can’t get herself out of a home she has dug for herself. Take your own advice.
  13. LOL! @ posse getting insulting with Doji who has been nothing but respectful in his discussion today.
  14. So Theo signed an elite closer in Foulke for 2004 as overkill when he still had Williamson, Timlin and Embree coming back for 2004? The posse showed up unarmed today.
  15. Better to not walk the tying run and face the winning run. Smoak just beat him that time.
  16. Take it however you want to take it.
  17. The goal posts are moving this morning for the “closers are overvalued” argument.
  18. No, you can’t.
  19. Very interesting. They are probably much more highly trained, but yet there is still much imprecision. Things are coming more clearly into focus for me this morning.
  20. In fairness, if Bailey and Hanrahan had been worse than they were in 2013, they never would have made AAA. Hanrahan pitches in 9 games and never appeared in another MLB game. My favorite was Bobby Jenks. He was in 2011. Theo spent $12 million on him and got 15 innings, 0 Saves and a 6.32 ERA. He is my favorite, because I was at Yankee Stadium for his quasi-last appearance. He got winded running in from the bullpen and then he looked like he was going to vomit after his 5th warmup toss, because the fat slob was hyperventilating. That was the last time he made it to a major league mound.
  21. That means a lot coming from you. I would imagine that the ‘46 team was pretty special. They had the best hitter in the game, a strong defense, a potent offense and they had some pretty good pitchers. They didn’t have this team’s speed.
  22. Gomes got better as he went along. He has good insights and as he loosened up, his dry sense of humor surfaced more. i don’t think anyone can take listening to Mendoza and that ESPN Sunday night crew. Unfortunately, the revival of the Red Sox - Yankees rivalry gave ESPN huge ratings. There should be a way to measure how many people turn off the sound. I would rather listen to John Sterling if the Yankees. He is so dopey that it is comical. ESPN is just painful.
  23. There is nothing more demoralizing for a team or its fans than for the team to fight for 8 innings and hand the closer a lead and then lose the game. People value it differently. I just think it is silly to run up almost a quarter of a billion in annual payroll and look for a Dollar Store closer. It just doesn’t make sense to me.
  24. I think you are onto something. All along I thought it was cognitive dissonance, but I think you nailed it. Deep thinking.
