He may be a star 2 or 3 years down the road, but he ain't ready for the show. If the Sox could move him straight up for Willis, they would have done so already. The Marlins must be asking for the top two maybe three prospects in return for Willis, and they are right to do so. Willis is only 24, already a major league star, and he is cheap. If the roles were reversed and it was the Sox looking to move Willis, I would expect a king's ransom return. The Sox will probably be stuck with a rent-a-pitcher until year-end, and the earlier they make the move the more it will cost.
