  1. None of those teams have .500 Batting Averages. He didn't just give up hits in that last game. Everything was scorched. No bloopers. No bleeders. He is not ready for the bigs. I'd rather have that POS Aaron Small this year.
  2. I am not so sure I would term this group as loaded with talent.
  3. He is worshiped as an icon. He is beyond criticism. His every action is cloaked with infallibility by Yankee fans. It's ridiculous, because he has never been the top player at his position-- rarely does he crack the top 3 in the AL at the SS position.
  4. None of them have Batting Averages against like Pauley does (closer to .500 than .400). Clearly, he's not ready. We'll have to see about Lester.
  5. Manny is not a slacker. He is an airhead. He works very, very hard at his hitting, and this year he has worked very hard to improve his fielding. Occasionally, he does not run out a ball, but the SOB is on base so much that he'd be pulling muscles if he ran hard all the time. If people think he is a slacker, that's okay. I'll take half a dozen more just like him. Pitchers would break out in nervous rashes if they had to face a lineup like that.
  6. I hate when a manager or FO does that. Everyone in the ballpark will no that a guy can't cut it, but they keep him around because of his great attitude and hustle. Get me a slacker that can hit .300 and crush the ball.
  7. I agree. There have been too many games where Terry has loaded up the 6th through 9th lineup spots with garbage-- usually when Wakefield pitches. It's no wonder he gets no run support.
  8. If the 5th spot in the rotation becomes a give away game, they will have to make a move. Wake is around .500, and we'll all have to pray that Clement can get to .500 form. If the 5th spot is a give away, there will be enormous pressure on Schilling and Beckett each time they pitch.
  9. Crosby is like a much less talented Darren Bragg.
  10. He'll have to win if he wants to stay. They can't afford to coddle him with low pitch counts, etc. I am not quite sure that he can take the ball every 5th day and consistently give the team quality starts. If he can that would be a huge shot in the arm. They can't wait three or four weeks and five or six times around the rotation to find out.
  11. I don't think Hansen will struggle much. I think he is major league-ready. Even if Terry doesn't trust him in big spots, he is a much better 4th or 5th option than Tavarez or Seanez. Here's the bullpen that I'd like to see: Papelbon -closer Timlin- 8th inning Foulke - 7th/8th inning Riske- 6th/7th inning Hansen- 6th/7th inning MDC- 6th/7th Tavarez- mopup If Foulke or Riske falter, I could see Hansen and MDC moving up on the depth chart.
  12. What is the latest on Wells? I heard that the Surgeon confirmed the bone bruise and that there was no structural damage to the knee. Any word on when he might throw again, rehab, etc.?
  13. Seanez and Tavarez suck. Flip a coin an get rid of one of them. Hansen would be a huge upgrade over either one. IMO after Hansen gets some innings under his belt, he could be a go-to guy in late inning pressure situations -- 7th, 8th or 9th innings.
  14. He is not 100% ineffective. He is not effective nor consistent enough to stay with the ML team.
  15. They should be able to get a 5th starter without trading Lester, unless that starter is Willis. Livan Hernandez could probably be had for a lot less.
  16. I am sure that his command is exceptional for his experience level. He no doubt is head and shoulders above the othe AA and AAA pitchers, but these reports are not comparing him to ML pitchers. ML standards are very different. He will get there eventually. I would just prefer that he refine that part of his game in the minors not in the majors while getting tagged with losses.
  17. Welcome Nat, from a fan for 39 years.
  18. He is the Yankees third baseman, and it would make no sense to move him to his natural positio at SS while Jeter is out. That would shake up the lineup too much.
  19. Lol! I am glad that calling me a moron is not a personal attack. Lester may be the future of the team, but he may not be ready for the ML roster. I don't want to see this kid have a season like Bonderman had with the Tigers a couple of years ago where it was obvious to everyone that watched that he was very talented and would eventually be a good ML starter, but he was learning on the job and he got tagged with one loss after another. Being on a rotten team didn't help much, but because they were rotten they had the luxury of keeping the kid in the majors. The Sox are not a rotten team. They don't have the luxury to let this kid stay up and go 1 and 5 or 6. I'd rather that he give up an 8 spot in the next start with 5 walks, so the FO has no choice but to send him down for more seasoning. This would force the FO to go out and get an experienced starter. Of course, I'd prefer that he become a winner right out of the gate. I don't want to see the kid giving up 5 runs each outing while showing flashes of brilliance, but getting one Loss after another. If that makes me a moron... I guess you are entitled to your opinion, but dial down the emotion just a bit.
  20. Obviously, I'd prefer that the kid run off 3 wins in his next 4 outings. All I am saying is that if he is going to go out there in the next two or three outings and give up 4 or 5 runs in 5 or 6 innings, while walking 3-5 guys in each outing and pitch just well enough to lose, I'd prefer that he get knocked out of the box early in his next start and get sent back to the minors to work on his game. I like the kid and I think he has some plus stuff, but he doesn't have the command to succeed at this level yet. The Sox should be putting distance between themselves and the yanks while the yanks are damaged. The Sox should not be using the Major league starting rotation as an instructional league for minor leaguers. Rebuilding teams can afford to to that, not 1st place teams with $120+ million payrolls.
  21. Hopefully, we will not see him until ST.
  22. Did watch game 2? We can't afford to keep Pauley on the ML roster. Hopefully the Lester experiment will end soon. I'd prefer that he gets lit up in his next start. I'd prefer that to three or four more games where he pitches just well enough to lose. Win are needed. This Red Sox team cannot afford to be a training ground for kids.
  23. Not by giving two rotation spots to them. Let them dip their toes in the water here and there like MDC has done over the past couple of years. Get some confidence in them out of the pen and then let them compete for a job in ST in a couple of years.
  24. Hopefully, this game puts Pauley experiment to rest. It's too bad it didn't happen in his last start. His game against the Yankees just delayed the inevitable. He doesn't belong in the Bigs yet. He needs to go back to the minors for a year or two and then try to win a spot in ST. We need an experienced starter, maybe two (if Clement is damaged). Lester has tools and potential and he deserves another start, but I doubt that he will have the consistent command needed to stay in the majors.
