  1. On ESPN the announcers are pitying the Red Sox. I can't remember ever hearing announcers expressing such sentiments about the Red Sox. They are a humiliation.
  2. Coco is a catalyst. How did they follow this guy las year and think he would be a big time CF? __________________
  3. I heard that in addition to broken ribs, he bruised his buttocks again.
  4. This one should be over by the third inning.
  5. [quote=RedSoxRooter;193333 MOJO IS KICKIN TONIGHT!!! Seriously, man, it's getting old. For the love of God at least understand we already know this is how you feel! Get a punching bag or something....and spare us the picture of the dead kitty
  6. Tonight's lineup is the weakest one since the Darren Lewis days. I don't bet against the Red Sox, but I wish I could make a last minute bet against them tonight on the money-line. Winning a few bucks might make this less painful. Tonight's team would lose 9 out of 10 to the Royals.
  7. They said that the bleeding didn't stop until they got to Oakland. Being on blood thinners is no joke. I knew of a woman that took too high a dosage and basically bled out internally.
  8. BTW: Tina looks better tonight than she has looked all year. Maybe she has a boyfriend on the West Coast. Should we re-take the Tina Poll?
  9. The FO gave up on this team at the trading deadline. The team was worn out and debilitated by injuries and waiting for reinforcements. When the reinforcements didn't come, the shorthanded team was seriously undermanned and got slaughtered by NY. That was their last gasp, and now it looks like the team has given up on the manager. I feel bad for Tito. He's the guy on the firing line every night. He's trying to be a good soldier of the FO, and he's trying not to turn on the players. He wasn't responsible for the FO quitting on the team and he's not responsible for the players quitting either. He's in the middle, and he gets to face the music every day. You can see that it's eating him alive. IMO, I think he is seething at both the FO and some of the players, but he won't go public with it.
  10. I don't think the FO is even trying to hide its motivation with regard to Pedro. From the beginning they said that they were DL'ing him as a precaution, because they are not in a tight race. They know that they need Pedro in top form for the playoffs. I think Glavine's health scare was for real, but they will no doubt rest him down the stretch too. It's a nice luxury to have. I'm looking forward to seeing a rested Pedro on the big stage again.
  11. I think getting Abreu and Lidle would have made a big impact. First of all, the days that Lidle would pitch would not have been forfeit games like the days when "The Ultimate Loser" Johnson, Snyder, and Gabbard pitched. Second, the Sox lost a load of 1-run games and the offense has been in a stupor. Abreu definitely could have made the difference in some of those games. In many games, the team left a ton of guys on bases and one key hit would have mqade the difference. With regard to the $27 million dollar pricetag, that would be true if the Sox kept him this year and next year. I think if they had been creative this could've been avoided to a large extent. In the playoffs Abreu will get a lot of national exposure. If he does well, other teams will have an interest in him. The Red Sox in the offseason could have told Abreu that they would be going with Wily Mo as the starter in 2007. That would motivate Abreu to waive his no-trade clause (if he has one). The Sox could move him to another team in a salary dump and maybe have to eat some of his salary. I am tired of hearing the Red Sox FO whine about finances. The article quoting the $27 million was a cover story after the fact. The Red Sox made their offer to the Phillies, which was a reasonable offer that had philly picking up $6million of Abreu's salary. The Yankees swooped in afterward and took the enire enchilada. They beat the Red Sox to the punch.
  12. Welcome. We can all use a postive influence about now.
  13. You've got the sickness. Be thankful that you have a support group.
  14. He'd be an improvement. He'd at least make up for what we lost in Arroyo-- a solid 4th or 5th guy.
  15. I don't think Nixon is looking for big money, and the last 4 years have shown that 4 OFs get plenty of playing time on this team. I'd like to see a 2007 OF of Manny, Willy Mo, Nixon and a new CF. Please no more Kapler. Make him the equipment boy if they like him in the clubhouse. Stinkske is not an OF and as far as I am concerned, he is IF insurance at first or third. He should be grabbing a lot of bench if the 2007 team is any good.
  16. If they lose the next three games before Thursday, they might. If they keep pace or pick up ground, they will let the fans continue to cling to false hope and not make the moves.
  17. I've been wondering where you've been. Welcome back. I don't know about Nixon. As with all his injuries, they are optimistic about a quick return and then there are complications. The latest complication was an infection. He's supposed to return in early September, which is next week.
  18. The current system is patently unfair to the small market teams. Revenue sharing and luxury tax don't come close to providing a level playing field. Also, under the current system, I have been told that every dollar the Red Sox pay to improve and preserve Fenway and every dollar that the Yankees use to build a state of the art new toilet in the Bronx come off the top and do not go to revenue sharing. If that's true, the big-market teams have found a way to game the system. At some point the economics of the game will force a change in the current system. Eventually, either some smaller market teams will be squeezed out or the owners will realize that it impedes further expansion. That being said, as unfair as the current system is to small market teams, the large market teams like Boston, the Met, both LA teams, and both Chicago teams have no excuse. They have no one to blame but themselves and the incompetence of their FO's for the fact that the Yankees have been eating their lunch.
  19. Before I log out for the evening, I apologize to the members that visited this thread for the irrelevant bickering and arguing that dominated this thread. While I don't believe that I initiated the nonsense, I sincerely apologize for my role in the ugliness. I hate when others ruin a thread with nonsensical bickering. I apologize for my contributions to ruining this thread. Good night.
  20. Yes, it all started with my post about Pedroia. From there CrespoBlows sought to invalidate my opinion about Pedroia by bringing up a post that I made in June after the Yankees beat Cleveland, and a post during an Angel game about Kendrick and Kennedy. The relevance to Pedroia is...? I guess Crespoblows meant to demonstrate, from these two posts and the fact that I originally used the European spelling LUKA in my avatar, that I know absolutely nothing about baseball.:dunno:
  21. But it's really not a relevant topic to post about. Would any click on a thread called "Argument about grammar"? I would n't.
  22. But would you carry on about it for pages of posts?
  23. If you do know your faults, then why do you continue to be such a pompous ass. Last night we had to endure an interminable string of posts from you about grammar. Really, what could be less relevant. BTW: I am glad that you have hit the ignore button. But you are full of it on that too. You can't help yourself. You'll be back too soon for my taste to argue with me about some irrelevancy while misconstruing my opinions and misrepresenting my posts. BTW: I knew that you would cry uncle first. Have a pleasant evening. Oh, I forgot, you can't see my posts. Well, the sentiment was there even if you were not.
  24. I keep responding to Yank your chain. If my recollection is correct, I believe that I admitted months ago that i didn't know how good Perez was against lefties. I gave in on this along time ago. You continue to beat this dead horse, because of your argumentative nature. I didn't bring up the Guardians today. I ackowledged my lack of knowledge about the Guardians along time ago. But my comments were about that days lineup. You can blow it up into a whole big me vs. Cleveland thing, but it's not. However, I have enjoyed the back and forth with a pompous ass like yourself. I find it interesting that the only two things that you guys can attack me about are a post that I made about the Cleveland Guardians in June and a post about Adam Kennedy. Who is reaching? In the meantime, you guys hate for me to bring up: Johnny Damon (I continue to be right) Pedro (Enjoy watching the Master in the Post-Season) and more recently: Abreu/Lidle (If the deal was made by the Sox the roles of the Yankees and Sox would be reversed). Lack of any moves at the trading deadline. Theo's string of questionable and unsuccessful moves Comments about the rokkies unless glowingly positive
