    Jeter k's again. Cough cough. Maybe a little choking going on with the batting crown on the line. 1 for 5. Well, he's a pretty boy, so he'll probably win the big popularity title despite the fact that he has led the league in none of the major categories.

    But he hasn't pitched as a starter in the majors for a whole season. I don't think they will push him to 200 innings. Mark my words. He will not break 200 innings.

    I expressed those concerns about him in ST. I though he should max out at 140 innings. Sox management was not looking for 200 innings from him, because they had planned to start the season with him in the pen and to ease into a starting role. I don't think they will pitch him 200 innings in 2007, unless they want to blow out his arm. I think they should get a starter that can pitch 200 innings.

    Well, apparently Theo agrees with us. Let's hope the medical staff agrees, but the kid seems psyched to go back to starting.:dunno:

    From today's Globe, Theo tells Edes that if it were not for health concerns he would be inclined to leave him in the closer's role. This makes perfect sense, because the kid established himself as a big time major league closer. He could set the standard for closers for the next 10 years like Mo did for the last 10. There is no guarantee that he will be a dominant starter.

I always thought it was strange that he went from looking like the Pillsbury dough boy body complete with man-breasts to the Mr. Universe Physique that he was sporting by the time he got to Toronto. He also had more giddy-up on the fastball.

    If Pedro's medical condition was known to the Red Sox, then they should have let him walk regardless of draft picks, but what about Lowe and Johnny Damon. By the time Bucholz cracks anyones rotation as a top of the rotation or #3 starter, Lowe will have about 75 major league wins under his belt from the time he left the Red Sox. That's a lot of major league wins that the Sox are having great difficulty in replacing as they are waiting for Bucholz.

    I'm not arguing for Trot to be the starting RF. I'd prefer that they pick up a starting RF whether through a trade or FA, because I think Wily Mo will continue to be dominated by above average pitchers. The team doesn't need more help hitting bums. It needs guys that can hit quality pitcher. Against those guys, he just waves at 3 pitches and takes a seat. It's very frustrating.
